yeah its not a "problem" and people need to accept it

in the early 2000s it became a giant dick measuring contest to brag about your stadium seating 100+k so everyone started doing massive expansions and jamming people in, season tickets had long waitlists so everything was fine.

but as HDTV broadcasts have gotten better and better, nice TVs cheaper and cheaper people have been less inclined to put up with all the bullshite that goes with being on campus. Would you rather sit up top of the nosebleeds, with bad food, expensive beer and shitty traffic or watch with a group of friends at home? There's a reason NFL stadiums invest in amenities and mostly all have smaller seating capacities than college stadiums.

Getting upset about this is silly and is just the new norm for most games in tiger stadium save 1 maybe 2 games a year. Short of giving those seats away or making them dirt cheap, nothing will change that.

Lord I remember being called the troll of all trolls for talking about preferring a friend BBQ for the game over going to TS circa 2005-2006

Throw in that it was a muggy/humid evening

It's just as humid and hot in Gainesville and the Gators fans were absolutely insane for the Florida and UT game.

Stadium was rocking. We had a great time. Sure it wasn't quite as loud as Bama last year or UF in 2019 or 2007, but it was loud. Beer in 422 was cold, and I got two waters on my way out that were ice cold. I don't eat stadium food since I stuff my grill at the tailgate with boudin, jambalaya, stuffed peppers, roasted pig, etc..so cold hot dogs don't affect me.

Had a great day and night. I don't care if some corporate folks or old folks left early. Didn't affect me at all. It also didn't affect the ARK offensive line when they jump counts or lined up wrong.

Even Herbstreit called the atmosphere "flat" at the beginning of the game. It is sad what Tiger Stadium has become.

My wife and 2 kids (both under the age of 8) sat in traffic for 2 hours after the game when we live less than 10 miles away from the stadium. The way the traffic was funneled leaving our parking lot was completely idiotic, but I will do it again because going to LSU games is one of my favorite things to do.

To me, nothing matches being in Death Valley. No TV experience can rival that. Most people obviously don't feel that way anymore.

There are certainly things that can be done to improve the in game experience and improve post game traffic, but I think it is more on the fans for choosing to not go or leave early. People are looking for reasons to leave early these days - traffic, too hot, too cold, too muggy, etc.

That being said, LSU should find a way to reduce the capacity because we can barely fill up the stadium in recent years with a top 10 matchup.

of the major sports I'd say football is the one that is better suited for TV than in person now, just from a general viewing experience

Being there for the big games is something special...but with little ones now, I'm just not fighting it all to watch us play shitty rent a win teams or even some of the lower tier SEC teams.

I also don't understand why empty seats upset people

UT is a much bigger game to them thank ARK is to us.

It's generally considered their third biggest game every year, behind Fla St. and Ga.

Arkansas is really no more than ever our 5th or 6th, at best, despite the silly trophy.

Every big game that I can think of, where the band plays...the stadium screams obscenities that can be clearly heard on TV...has it ever crossed the minds of many of you who dislike music over the speakers (every stadium does this btw) that our leadership is trying to protect us from ourselves? Reduce the opportunities to hear the craziness seems better than letting the band play a few more pieces to appease

What kind of things are we looking for?

Overall campus Organization in everything they do....if you look like a visitor who is lost...you will be stopped and asked "can I help you?" (none football game day experience)...they're nice people...has been our experience

Cleanliness of entire campus
System in everything they do
Food
Concessions
Music during game
Surrounding bars
Surrounding restaurants (all have a nice vibe and atmosphere)
Golf cart transportation...this kind of detail is unique...fun and functional...
Clean porta potty stations
Organization of tent set up at Chimes (clock tower?...its impressive...for this area of campus... its not the loud party environment if thats what you want...

We Arrived 4 hours prior to kick off, I was very anxious we would hit 2 hours of traffic near campus...however we had zero traffic...I was shocked how smooth it was to our parking garage designed to look like a building rather than unsightly garage deck...

All roads and lots nicely paved...clean

The Greek life and houses are over the top...Google it...

Its over the top...but it makes the stadium game day experience have a nicer feel to it... no run down tired looking buildings anywhere

Too many seats. Felt like a sardine Saturday. Scale it back. Add more luxury seats.

LSU fans are the biggest collective group of front running pussies I’ve ever seen in my life.

And people will get mad and say it isn’t true, but a HUGEEE part of the problem originated from this website

Only an egotistical prick like yourself would remember people telling you that you were wrong almost 20 years prior.

You’re such a douche … are you this way in real life?

HDTV's along with Every game on tv are ruining the game LIVE! Then expanding to 100,000 mostly is giving opposing teams more tickets Sucks! Back before the Ugly arse upper deck was built it was such a beautiful place, they bastardized it. Now it's better but... Bring back the Tiger Stadium where getting a ticket was almost impossible! However with tv contracts being what they are it will Never be the same!

I can remember the day the stadium stayed packed except for some of the it does not matter games. Band left the crowd back then and was in the NW Corner of the end zone. The worst chant was kick their arse. It’s my belief the band is no longer as active due to somehow fitting in STTDB to a line somewhere, hence the piped in music replaces the band and we pretty much become like every other stadium in the country.

Your picture is of the worst seats in the house, in the 7th largest stadium in the world. Tiger Stadium is absurdly too large, by at least 20,000 shitty seats, nestled into an area with woefully inadequate parking and egress for a stadium of this size, which now results in the empty seats you see in the lower bowl late in games. TS made sense as an ~80K seat stadium. A 108K seat stadium on LSU's campus is absurd.

Yep. I’ve been saying it since ‘19. The quality of the material things in Tiger Stadium do not compare to most other schools.
A few pretty easy things to make the stadium more on par with other teams: Install LED lights, take down some ads (you can get over 50% more space on the NEZ board alone without the millions of ads, its embarrassing), and rework the sound system to install speakers lining the upper decks. It would sound infinitely better.

Name a top SEC school where fans can leave at the end competitive SEC game and be home in 30mins??

traffic getting home has to be improved if people are going to stay to the end of the game. it is extremely painful to take several hours to get home in baton rouge. people leave and watch the end at home.

As soon as I saw the refs hands go up after Ramos' kick we got the hell out of the stadium. Walked to our tailgate at the top of the hill, grabbed the ice chest, unlocked the bikes and rode to where we parked on State street. Managed to beat the traffic altogether, make it to our car 13 minutes after we started walking out of the stadium and made it home faster than ever before.

BUT, had we waited another 5 or ten minutes to watch the 00:00 it probably would have cost ur 45 minutes or longer in getting home.
