I started playing Disc Golf in January. My friends and I are hooked. Any other players here?

Me. I played earlier today. I'm older so I'm not long off the tee but when my approaches are on (which they usually are) I can still score well.

Ive been playing for 20 plus years.
I play pretty frequently, not a big fan of highland, good course but too many other things going on there.
I play solomon in robert a lot, i really like bogue chitto as well.
Best course in Louisiana is parc des families in marrero though.

Do you bring a couple tall boys of craft beer and some weed each time you play? They have a disc golf course around the local soccer fields and the smell of weed isn't uncommon.

I started playing a bit over a year ago. I suck but damn it’s fun.
I play with some dudes that have been going for years and they’ve shown me a lot. I just don’t have time to get out and practice like I’d like to.

It looks fun but haven’t tried it. I play regular golf.

Been playing for a few years. Great way to enjoy beautiful park and weather. Plus the discs aren’t that expensive and there isn’t any kind of fee to play

Do people use carts or is all on foot?

I play. I didn’t play much this summer, though. Too hot to enjoy it. My friends and I will probably start playing again in a couple weeks.

I picked it up about 3-4 years ago. Never thought it'd turn into the addiction that it did ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Yeah, son and I started playing a couple of years ago.
We love it. Nice walks through the woods and throwing discs. Fun, and just a nice time.
I like watching the tourney videos from JMEZ and stuff like that. Watching pros throw discs like they do is just fun to watch.
I also watch anything with Simon on it. He's entertaining. Eagle's cool too. Lots of just cool pros that play the game. All really nice and normal.
Quite different from most spectator sports. Just a different vibe in the sport of disc golf which is expected and appreciated.

It’s a great chill sport

I've been playing for over 50 years and started targeting trees, poles, benches, etc. as there weren't any baskets at that time. Played all through the LSU campus. I now live in Colorado and we have some amazing courses.

It's fun but way too hot this summer

Started 2 months ago and got hooked. Got 45 games in during that first 2 months
. I’m old and have major back and neck trouble, but I can get by with a forehand flick of the wrist without killing myself. Backhands are just too much body whip for me. Driving is my weakness but my approach shots are very accurate. And I’m already almost automatic putting from 20 ft. or less. Sank around 10 putts of 40-50 ft. already, with a long of 90 ft. Shot an even par round on the short course at Bogue Chitto already, but long courses would kick my arse since my drives are usually under 200 ft.
Thought I had enough discs, but then discovered different plastics so I’m fast approaching 20 discs now. Trial and error. I’ll never be great at it, but it’s an easy enough game to get decent enough to have a fun time.
Played Parc des Familles a few times and love the added bonus of searching for canebrake rattlers while playing. I actually discovered the course when I went snake hunting in that area.
Beautiful course. Bogue Chitto just seems like a tree fest at first in comparison but is really fun once you learn the course.

Been playing for 22 years. Was introduced to it in my junior year of high school. Played very casually for about seven years until I found out there were leagues and tournaments, got into those pretty heavily for a while. Peaked at a pdga rating of 1010. Then tournaments started filling up way too fast and soured me on them, haven’t thrown a rated round in over 8 years now. These days I prefer a more casual beer league type setting, unfortunately where I live now that’s not an option, and even though I was a founder of two leagues where I grew up I have a hard time drumming up support for a more casual but still competitive league. Everyone here has gotten too focused on score and not the “fun” aspect. Or they feel I’m stepping on the local sanctioned league’s toes and don’t want to rock the boat.
the comraderie is fantastic- used to travel a lot for work and would bring a few discs. Could always count on meeting new people at the course that were willing to show me around, always friendly as can be. Also took my wife out to a course a couple hours away and she was shocked at my lack of concern in regards to theft or crime, when I’m normally reminding her to follow basic rules like don’t leave your purse in the damn car in plain view.
It’s a damn shame that more municipalities don’t recognize how much return they can get for the relatively small investment when building a decent course. A neighboring town just spent $200k building a bmx park that nobody uses yet could have spent a tenth of that on a phenomenal disc golf course that would bring in people from across the state and many other disc golf “tourists”.

Never played Disc Golf but when I was a rabid dope smoker in the 70’s and 80’s I was a mutha fricker with a Pro model frisbee….regular trickster.
