Appearing on “The Matt Barrie Show,” SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum said you have to seriously consider LSU in the discussion regarding the top team in the league.
TTT - While that may be true, Finebaum's real reason for doing this is to lather up LSU's next opponent Arkansas.

It’s true, but it’s also just as much about the other teams not playing well, as it is LSU being that good. Had it not been for Florida St, there would be little doubt, though.

It is possible that this team is one of the top teams in the country. FSU may have just been a fluke off day. We did look at least decent in the first half (still some issues in that first half like red zone offense and getting 3rd down stops on defense but that’s kind of to be expected in first games)
Time will tell and it’s too early to be making any claim like this.

We've gone from panic 'we suck' in week 1 (we did suck) to best in the conference week 3 (St sucks).

Depends on which version of JD we get.
If we get Saturdays version then LSU is damn near unstoppable. If we get a banged up or the bad JD, LSU can lose to anyone including bottom feeder SEC teams.

LOL Mississippi State is a joke. That was a bad team and LSU beat them accordingly. Arkansas is light years better than State and Ole Miss is better than Arkansas. And Missouri is no slouch having just beaten a ranked K. State team.
Point is LSU is still the team that got drummed in the 2nd half by FSU and is still playing with a mid level Pac 12 quarterback. I'm still prepping for 8-4. Losses to Ole Miss, Bama, possibly Missouri or Auburn.

Finebaum has some really bad takes. We did what we were supposed to and beat a pretty bad MSU team. I don’t think we should put ourselves ahead of UGA just yet. They were sleepwalking against SC and then absolutely manhandled them in the second half. If we can keep getting better and play 4 quarters of football each week we should be in the SECCG again this year. Just can’t have any 2nd half FSU performances.
