Planning a trip to Napa/Sonoma at the end of May next year. Checking to see if anyone has been and could have some input on hotels in the area.

Well you need to decide where within Napa you want to be. Napa in the south, where there are a number of hotels? Or do you want to be up north in St. Helena?

It also depends upon how much you want to spend. We love staying in Yountville (because of the location to the wineries) and Vintage House and Napa Valley Lodge are great choices, but are probably $350 - $600 night, depending upon the time of the year. If you want to stay in the City of Napa, 1801 First is a great B&B in Napa. Great breakfast and wine and cheese each evening.

Looks like we are tending towards staying up north…..St. Helena area possibly. Budget is flexible, probably don’t want to go over $800/night.

Does it need to be a hotel?

I’ve also stayed here and enjoyed it. Easy walk to downtown and the breakfast is really good.

Doesn’t have to be a hotel.

Vineyard Country Inn is great. Super affordable, great location, very large rooms for the price with a nice view. Breakfast included, pool, hot tub etc.

Its not luxury but for the price in that area its great.

All of the BnB's in downtown Napa are fantastic. We stayed at the McClelland house and absolutely loved it. They do "happy hour" every night with wine and cheese and the owner of the house stops by and chats. They do breakfast every morning which is great, and we had a couple early days so they chef even came in early just to fix us breakfast. They're extremely accommodating and want to make your stay the best as possible. I believe there are a total of 5 rooms in the house. The owner told us Dave Chappelle stays there when he's in the area and rents the whole house out.

Lots of options that early out. Been twice. Once in Napa town and won’t do that again. Last time near Yountville. I’d do that every time. I couldn’t get anything in St. Helena proper but would live to do that. Overall, stay in the valley itself and don’t stray too far off the main highway of Napa Valley.
