Sure, you can probably get a 3 seat Lexus too

Having children is not being irresponsible

It’s not your income that matters, it’s your income minus your spending.

$140k is the new $100k, actually

Pretty much this; as sad of an indictment as this is on our shamefully irresponsible modern-day fiat monetary system.

You will never have enough money when it comes to kids.

100k is the new 50k
Just enough to get by

The more successful kids are the more expensive they are. If you’re strapped for cash, just sabotage their success.

In 2014 I made $38k a year and my wife was a full time student taking out loans. Got pregnant. Oh no!
All has worked out fine. We're currently bringing in over 200k, kid is in private school, two extracurriculars, three vacations a year, maxing 401k's , saving for college, saving for property investment/second home, giving to charity, zero balances on credit cards every month, paid off vehicles, 2600 sq ft house, benefactor to a black sheep family member when he does good, etc.
Life changes fast, and usually for the better, when you have a child. Something inside of you that you never thought existed, ever knew existed, becomes ignited and brings you closer to success. Usually. I don't want to discount the other possibilities, like miscarriages, or disabled children, things that can really frick up a marriage and/or your life, but I can guarantee you that once that "parent switch" goes off in your animal brain after having a kid, you become twice as aware and twice as productive and twice as valuable to society. I don't know the answer on how or why, I just know that it is.

It’s more about maturity level than income level. Decent hard working Americans are having less and less kids which is directly leading to the downfall of modern society

Fair point since so many people have 4 kids these days

Spin-off from that OT poster saying he raises 4 kids on 140k. Is that responsible? Think about the type of car, after school activities, college, etc
Keep living in that sheltered mindset and you’ll get a real life Idiocracy. You think low income people give frick about responsibility?

Whatever I made when my first was born. When I could afford them, I got clipped. Go figure.

My mother always said if you wait until you can afford them you will never have them.
She also said the best appliance was a pair of black hands.

I'd keep that to yourself.
