It was a clear and cool morning. Great weather. I was in disbelief.

Don't know if you're talking about in Natchitoches or New York... but an interesting thing I was reminded of today I didn't remember from back then...

There was a hurricane like 500 miles almost due east of New York that morning... which was a fortunate thing for NYC that day as the north wind that was blowing in NYC due to the storm was blowing all the toxic smoke out to sea instead of back over populated areas

Imagine if the air was stagnant and pushing the smoke down onto the people in and around NYC

I was in science class as a junior at Brother Martin when we got word of what was happening

LSU geology building admin office on the 2nd floor. It was on a small, portable tv.

Two weeks into my freshman year at HS. Right about the time the first plane hit I was in the car heading to school and didn't hear anything about it.

The second plane probably hit right as my first hour art class was starting but nobody said anything about it.

Second hour speech class, one kid asked if we could turn on the TV. Teacher said no, let's focus on class and that was all. I still had no idea what was going on.

Third hour was science but the teacher had the TV on and that was the first time I'd seen or heard anything about the attacks. Teacher kept the TV on long enough for me to see one of the towers coming down. He then turned it off and we played a game where the whole class tries counting to 30, one student at a time, but unprompted, and if any two students tried to count the next number together we had to start over. By the end of class we were all hollering and laughing, trying to finish this stupid game, completely forgetting about what was transpiring. That was really cool the more I think about it.

Fourth hour, English. No TV. Teacher asked us to write an impromptu essay from the POV of someone in the towers as the plane hit. I thought it was pretty tasteless and refused to do it.

I don't remember much else from the rest of that day. Might've been sent home early, can't recall. But I was fixed to the TV for probably two more days after that.

Wild times.

First day of a new job. We were all at an 8-hour OSHA training class.

Went out on a break to check my phone in the truck and had like 10 missed calls from my wife. So I called her and she told me what was going on.

We had to sit there and finish the class until 5 PM not knowing what WTF was happening.

2nd grade, Mrs. Grieve's class.

I don't even think I knew what the WTC or Pentagon were at that point in time.

At home. I watched the today show back then. I had just bought a tv and put in my room. That was a big deal at my house. I just threw that TV away when I sold my house a few months ago. My wife asked why the hell I still had a 14 inch tube TV stuffed away in the attic. I told her that was the TV I watched 9/11 on. She looked at me like I was nuts. The world was different after that.

Sitting in Merrill Lynch office....guy was on the phone with office in NY and looked over at me and said "he just said someone just flew a plane into WTC ". First thought was a private pilot just lost consciousness. We go out into lobby turn to CNN... Nothing. Five min or so later the office was buzzing with news and everyone in the lobby watching TV. I always wondered what happened to the guy on the other end of the line that watched it happen

Leaving my office to teach at 9 am class at LSU when an associate caught me in hall and said the country is under attack. My office was several miles from main campus, I drove in listening to the radio to find out what was happening, taught the class - some students were aware, others were not, and when I got back in the car to drive back to my office, I turned on the radio and the 2nd tower was in the process of collapsing.

In first grade at school. I was too young to understand the significance of the event.

I was going into my office when I heard someone on the sidewalk talking about a plane crash in New York.

As soon as I was inside, I turned the TV on just in time to see the second plane hit.

5th Grade English class.

That particular classroom had a little hallway that connected to the main office. She was called in there then came back out a few minutes later and said the twin towers had been hit. I didn't recognize the severity of the situation at that time but the look on her face told me it wasn't good.

I didn't see any news coverage until I got home that afternoon. I sat on the coffee table taking it all in. I guess I had a pretty shocked look on my face because at some point my sister walked in and was wondering what was going on and my mom told her this was my first time seeing any video from it.

I traveled cross country the day before. Woke up in my hotel room in San Diego and turned on the tv and right about the time the second plane hit. My mind kept bouncing back and forth from rage to fear to how the frick am I gonna get home?

I never liked to fly in the first place and even if everything wasn’t grounded, there was no fricking way I was getting on an airplane at that point. I spent the day finding a rental car and started my drive home the next day.

I had flown back from a work assignment in Manchester, England the day before.

Got up and went to work and watched everything as it was happening.

Communications were out for a while - so the guys in England were scrambling trying to figure out my flight details to see if I was OK.

Here at work where I am now.

When the first plane hit, our receptionist said something about a plane hitting one of the towers. We didn't see footage or anything het. We all assumed it was some small plane accident.

Then the second plane hit, and we knew instantly something else was going on. We all went into the conference room and watched the news for the next bit.
