Where were you on 9/11/01?
Was in college. My classes weren't till 11:00 so I was still asleep. My alarm went off at 9:00 (10:00 Eastern) and I remember hearing dudes on radio (though my alarm clock) talking about a disgusting and "horrible" attack on WTC. Normally the morning show was a comedy show and for them to be pissed, I knew something was up. Instead of hitting the snooze button, I got up and turned the TV on.
I don't remember if my university cancelled classes or not, but I do know I didn't go. I walked outside and talked to some friends next door. I told them how the news was saying up to 20,000 may have been killed. When I said that, a woman started crying.
We were still all on edge because we knew more attacks may be coming. When the Pentagon got hit and then I heard about flight 93 going down, shite got really real in my mind. To see the fricking Pentagon on fire was wild - the symbol of American military might attacked. Then they were saying White House and Capitol may be the next targets. At that point, it went from "terrorist attack" to "this is war."
Then I got worried about a possible military draft.

I had a midterm in a class at UGA. The professor was notorious for locking the doors if you were late for class or a test. I was running late. I lived within walking distance so I was booking it, running, so I wouldn't get locked out and fail my test. I get to Park Hall and run up the stairs and to the classroom, about 3 minutes late, and the professor is standing in front of the door. Immediately I'm ready to beg him to let me in, get down on my knees and suck his cock to let me in to take my test, I'm huffing and puffing, and he says "the test is postponed and the university is closed due to terrorist attacks on Washington DC and New York". This prof was known to be a joker so I thought he was fricking with me, so I challenged him and said please let me in, I can't fail this class" and he repeated himself. At this point I looked behind him and saw the room empty. A coldness descended upon me ... while relieved that I hadn't missed my midterm, I knew something really fricked up must be going on. I walked out the main entrance of Park Hall down to the street and it just so happened my good friend and former roomate was driving by, saw me, stopped, called me over and let me hop in. Before I could even ask him what the frick was going on, he filled me in. He dropped me off at my apartment. Another old friend from high school lived about 10 doors down in the same complex, he saw me getting dropped off and came over with a case of beer. He wasn't a student, he was a crackhead that liked living in Athens and working at Little Italy for crack. He couldn't afford cable, so I let him hang out in my apartment where we watched fox news the rest of the day drinking milaukee's best.

Doing sales in Shreveport had spent the night before driving from BR.
Radio said small plan then next stop they all had radio on and we knew it was no accident.
By the time I was drinking home early Air Force one was arriving at Barksdale.
Did not fully understand till got home as sae the footage. Glad I did not as the drive home would have been much harder.

I was home in Covington just had come on from offshore. I had just gotten up and hadn’t turned on any TC or anything yet. I was probably stealing music on Napster lol. My wife was working as a Dental Hygienist in Metaire and called me “turn on the TV, terrorist attacks everywhere” I think I watched until both buildings collapsed, turned off the TV and went outside to wash my car. I still have the Times Picayune from the next day.

Walking to second period junior year of high school I heard my ag teacher say something about they are attacking us. Spent the rest of the day in school watching the news. My after school job was to deliver the legal news and every single place I walked in had a tv watching the coverage. I had never seen anything like it and probably never will.

Wow. This is crazy but the wife and I had a night shift and went to work at 11. We did not turn the tv on that morning which was very strange fir us. Didn’t realize something was going on till we heard on radio that they hit the pentagon. I was pissed as I could be… they came and attacked

In San Francisco at a national sales meeting. Woke up at the same time as I would at home just in time to see the plane hit the second tower. No one was paying attention to anything to do with the meeting so we cancelled. Spent the rest of the week trying to get home. Company had to rent Diamondbacks plane to get people back to the east coast. That and a fleet of buses got most people home. One guy had his wedding in New York City that Friday. He left Tuesday morning on the bus and arrived in Friday just in time for his rehearsal dinner.
We were all pretty shocked and worried. On Tuesday night my team went to dinner and bar after bar, as we left each place we sang God Bless America and got everyone in the places to join us. That was great for our spirits. One of my most tragic and best memories of my life.

I was in phx training for a new job. I didn’t get a rental car so I was being picked up for my shift when the driver asked me for an update…I hadn’t turned on the TV so I had no idea what he was talking about.
My trainer told me to go watch tv and periodically come back and give her updates…
The hard part was being trapped in a hotel room with nothing to do but watch the coverage for days. There was so much mis-information and unfounded rumors that it forever changed my view of the media.
I went visit a buddy of mine in phx (couldn’t take it and rented a car) who was with the secret service. He had an entire bedroom filled with equipment and weapons spread out in a specific way…he said he was on emergency alert and had to be ready to deploy in 2 hrs if called. That made it very real.

I was in Washington on a trip with the Mississippi Bankers Association. We were at a meeting at the FDIC across the street from the Old Executive Office Building. An unbelievable surreal day. I will never forget anything about that day or the night before.

Packing suitcases to take an afternoon flight to the east coast from Mobile to Charlotte to go the outer banks for a week. We actually redid the trip the week that Katrina hit.
