Been watching LSU football for a long time.
I’ve never seen them quit before.

I knew the secondary would be shaky but I didn’t think they would like that outmatched and outclassed. It wasn’t competitive their wide receivers flat out humiliated these corners it was hard to watch

Not just losing the battle, but getting dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Didn’t see that coming.

How red BK’s face got a couple times

The most surprising thing to me is how wrong everybody was about the aptitude of this LSU football team and coaching staff. The pollsters put LSU at #5. LSU fans put LSU at that level, with confidence.
Playing #8 proved all of that wrong in a profound manner. The game was not even close.
Has a Top 5 LSU football team ever shite the bed against a lower ranked opponent in such an embarrassing and humiliating manner?
This is definitely one of the worst LSU football losses of all time.
This is what is most surprising to me - the huge difference between what everyone expected and what actual reality turned out to be.

When the score was 0-0 after the first drive ( after two nice plays)…. I thought… hmmmm.. y’all practiced all off season for this..
Not what I expected from team and coaching ….

How poorly coached they looked

I think also it was the lack of fight and hustle towards the end of the game. Nabors, after falling down and causing the interception, didn't even get up to try to run down the FSU DB who made the pick. Just sat there. It didn't seem like there were any leaders on the field, on offense or defense. Nobody trying to rally the team, nobody getting mad...like they just laid down. That was shocking to me.

The fact that Nuss didn’t play in the 4th quarter when the game was out of reach.

The talent gap in our defensive backfield was very alarming. In general, we just don't have that NFL caliber player anywhere on the field at the DB / Safety position. Honestly, they were in the correct places on most plays. But the difference in a 2 star player in a zone read, and a 4/5 star, is how quickly they close the gap when the ball is in the air. Our guys can't get there.

I thought CBK was in this to rebuild the football culture wrecked by CLM and CEO. What I think we got was the opposite - an even more wrecked culture - players, coaches and all. The LSU of old is now the stuff of lore. The now LSU is a bad joke.

A lot of what was said already about coaching, so I'll go to energy and on the field leadership. I didn't see any of that. In years where we don't have that, we don't do well. The team doesn't appear to be operating as a unit with high aspirations, it's just a bunch of dudes hoping things go alright. And when they don't go well, they shut down vs. man up.

The inability to run the ball. It puts way too much pressure on the passing game and no, this isn't an excuse for Daniels play.

The fact that JD looked exactly like he did at the back end of last season. I saw zero growth in his progressions and getting rid of the ball.

I didn't expect us to get bullied. I thought we'd play smash mouth football.

SEC teams don't have to win the out of conference games at the beginning of the season to still be considered a playoff team. But given the current state of college football, it's more plug and play with less cohesion, even in a locker room full of elite players.
The AD at LSU got the best coach money could buy based on an employer that is known for making long-run changes in the short-run. The guy at TCU may be ready in a year.

1. Being correct that Moving Perkins inside was a self neutering move. How the coaches don’t see this is baffling. The secondary is weak and him coming off the edge to apply pressure will help the secondary.
2. JD has not improved. Kelly has a big decision to make. Similar to Saban with Hurts/Tua. He’s avg at best passing and no team is respecting the passing game. It’s selling out to stop the run and contain JD. Might give up a big play, but not going to beat you consistently.
3. Denbrock play calling is very vanilla and those 7 plays inside the 5yd line….JFC!
