We live fairly close to a friend’s farm and he lets friends go there to shoot, including my family. When people shoot there we can hear it and he will sneak off into his favorite corner we call the “hole”. He does the same for fireworks. When he hears those 2 sound he will just get up from wherever he is and sneak off.

What is your dog afraid of?
Chainsaws and the sound of a tree hitting the earth.
One doesn't care, but the other acts like the apocalypse is on the way.

The blow dryer, blower, vacuum. Pretty much anything that moves air through it, except the roomba.

Largest dog was terrified of screaming toddlers until he got older. Can't blame him.

The other was a rescue from a puppy mill, nearly dead from starvation. At first she'd go nuts whenever she saw a Hispanic person - but had no problem with anyone else.

Made for some awkward moments at the dog park.

My Great Dane is scared of ghosts. Always have to give him snacks to calm him down.

I live with three dogs, none of which are actually mine.

Millie (Wife’s Maltese/Chihuahua): I know for sure she is not afraid of large dogs. Once she almost jumped from the car to get at a neighbor’s lab. What she is afraid of though is the common housefly. If she sees one she will hide in the blanket basket in the living room until she sees an opening and goes to hide under our bed. I also noticed the other night while watching the Republican presidential debate, the ding they played to tell them to wrap up their answer scared her. What’s odd is anytime she hears a doorbell, which is not that dissimilar to that ding, she goes into absolute rage mode. But for some reason the ding scared her.

Dottie (daughter’s pug) is, as far as I can tell, afraid of nothing. She does have an odd habit of anytime someone is getting ice from the dispenser on the fridge door, she runs into the kitchen to beg for an ice cube. I honestly think the dog might have at least one extra chromosome.

Copper (son’s Heinz 57) is, I think part lab, part catahulla, maybe some German Shepard, and part idiot. He’s a really good dog though other than he he’s oblivious to the fact he’s almost 80 lbs and instead thinks he’s as small as my wife and daughter’s dogs. As to what he’s afraid of, well, he’s afraid of literally everything. My wife bought him a new food bowl recently and he was afraid of the damned food bowl, even after she put his food in it.

Thunder and lightning.

Duck and goose hunting with guns blazing…. Not a care in the world. Odd.

Elevators. Huge fear of elevators. Won’t get within 30 feet of an elevator. A bit annoying

One year during Christmas I bought a life size cut out of Clark Griswold holding presents and put it in the corner of my living room. My GS was going nuts barking at it pissed off. Lol

German Shep doesn’t like fireworks, rake, broom, weedeater, hose, water sprinklers. Makes me cross the street or turn around to avoid the sprinklers.

Loves the beach, won’t get near the water. Won’t even go after his ball if it goes in.
Has been known to walk around puddles on the sidewalk but will play in puddle/mud in grassy areas. And he looks at me like I’m the crazy one.

He's 80 lbs (at 5 months) and is absolutely terrified of any mildly aggressive small dog. It's hilarious and I'm thankful that he doesn't feel the need to escalate.
