I know my daughters uniforms are bought by me. I don't think inside the buildings hold any different legal standing to outside in the parking lot.

They actually can. As long as it isn't punative to one specific group/ideology/etc.

The school also has the right to put up blinds in class windows - if it’s a distraction. They are straight up ignorant and power tripping.

I am sure this board would be riding for this kid's rights if he was flying Black Lives Matter flags.

What country does the Black Lives Matter flag represent? You should move there.

So a flag is distracting but not the colors or a flag drawn on a car? That's curious.

Ignorant? They are giving students free American flags to display. That’s extremely reasonable and an adult like response to this. The students parents refusing to see that, and still fighting this is childish and ignorant

What, you are saying that if it is personal property they can't do anything to stop it.

But they dictate clothes, schoolbags, hats, and all sorts of other personal items on school grounds.

If they were American flags they couldnt?

Schools have rules. Its not hard to follow the rules.

This is why I hated high school. They wanted you to act like an adult all the time but treated you like a child.

Bingo. Because it’s considered political speech that is protected by the First and Fourteenth Amendments.

Because the entire apparatus is run by a bunch of middle aged women. We really need more men in our school systems. It’s bad enough that a large majority of minority and poor kids grow up without a father and when they get to school they still don’t have any male role models to look up to.

“Hey student, you can’t have those flags, they are too big”

“My family fought for America I am proud to be American”

“Oh, of course. Here is a free American flag that you can display”

“No! You hate America I’m not coming to school”

Who is being unreasonable and ignorant here?

I just edited my post and I agree. As long as they aren't allowing anyone else to fly different flags of similar size, I'm not seeing the big issue. I still think the policy is dumb though.

It certainly seems like a useless waste of time.

These rules are usually carryover because sometime in the past some set of knuckleheads screwed it up for everyone.

Good luck with showing flags in a parking lot is distracting students in a classroom.

You don’t think large Pride, BLM, Confederate, Antifa flags flown in a pickup truck at a high school is not going to cause a distraction?

The rule was probably put in place specifically to avoid situations like the one I listed; not to prevent the American flag. Some of you are just being dense in this.
