I don’t own an electric vehicle. I don’t plan on getting an EV even though I do think they have some cool features. Reasons why it’s not practical for me, occasionally we take long trips and hurricanes

It just seems like some people search the internet daily for stories about people who had bad experiences with EVs. The just love it and almost gloat when people have trouble with an EV.

Is it political?

Do you work in oil and gas?

Why are you so happy when you hear a bad story?

It’s a strange phenomenon.

Because people do not want to be forced to buy one and don’t like the government stacking the deck in favor of them.

Eta
Could you not have posted this in the other EV thread?

I think a lot of people just don't want to be forced to own one which is what will eventually happen

Because its stupid. They are actually terrible for the environment but this is the cause for the push. They are inferior to ICE vehicles in almost everyway. Yet they are being rammed down our throats. Why would someone do that? Hmmm.

I don't want EV's to fail.

What I don't want is the govt pushing a technology on us that isn't ready for the use of many American's.

My guess is Yes and Yes, on both of those .

Also it’s just low IQ types who are stuck in the past .. but they are also conflicted since they worship Elon.. it is indeed a strange phenomenon .

I'm fine with them being an alternative(by choice) if it works for you.

depends on the story. The other thread has a heavy as shite pickup going on a cross-country trip and needing to refuel in rural areas where the infrastructure isn't anywhere near reliable. By no means am I saying that I'm happy, but it's always entertaining seeing stories about people from the city getting to actually experience life in rural America and realizing how they want to live doesn't necessarily work.

Yes and yes. These people think they are freedom warriors or truth seekers because their internet history feeds them negative EV stories on the daily. Then they come repost them here like SEE! IT'S A SCAM!

That fox business article on the front page is the most obvious hit piece to appeal to these kind of people I've ever seen when you read it.

I probably wouldn't buy an EV in the next 15 years but some of these people buy the fear porn hook, line and sinker.

I can go to the dealership and buy a diesel right now, why would I be afraid of EVs?

I'm rooting for them to get fricking better or go away. I don't want to be forced to own and operate an inferior product in the name of pseudo climate science. I am willing to make the change if it's a better product.

hey remember when you tried to compare an EV just trying to refuel to catastrophic vehicle breakdown?

fun times.

That part stuck out to me as well, I've never visited Minnesota but was there an alternate route he couldve taken where he wouldve been going through towns with more than 1 charger rather than sticking to rural towns? It almost made the story seem fake, but I know from experience that some people really would probably be that stupid.

Definitely this.

EV's can be easily argued to actually be worse for the environment than fuel-efficient ICE's.

Maybe...maybe not.

But would he have experienced the same problems of finding refueling stations had he driven an ICE?

ETA: "You should plan long trips only if there are large cities every 200 miles" isn't exactly a great sales pitch for EV's.

If he waited til he was almost on E to fuel up and stopped in a town with 1 gas station that happened to be out of service, sure. It is less likely, but still if you are driving a vehicle with 200 miles left on it, don't wait until you are almost out of juice to stop in a small town with 1 charger/gas station.

It all comes down to Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

Ever heard someone say... "I told you so"? The people you are talking about are the "I told you so's" who are the smartest people in the room and are not shy about it.

The entergy enlightend know to be FACT that the whole EV thing is unsustainable in its current capacity AND is not doing for the environment what people think it is. From the mining of the lithium for the batteries, to making the batteries, to charging the batteries, to replacing the batteries, and disposing of the batteries. Every aspect of the batteries has serious environmental issues that are ignored far more than they are discussed, and its because people don't want to hear the truth because it doesn't make them feel good.
