The aircraft landed safely at London’s Heathrow Airport around 05:00 local time. However, it was only then that the passenger realized his predicament, leading to immediate assistance from flight attendants who tried to help him out of the seat while keeping him calm.
The situation took an unexpected turn as an engineering decision was made to remove the suite door and employ a hoist to safely extricate the passenger from seat 1A.

Harsh conversations need to be had after this with this person.
When you have to be lifted out of a plane with a crane , you shouldn’t be flying.

An insider at British Airways revealed, “The passenger was mortified. It’s astonishing because the seats are the most spacious available. It was as embarrassing as it can get for him — especially when a door in the cabin had to be removed.”

And this is why we should pay by the pound to fly.

Sad that anyone would let themselves go like that.
In college I had a friend who worked for our local ambulance service. They had a call to a fat arse bastard with chest pains. He would not fit through the door of his trailer. He was so fat he couldnt even stand. Just laid in the bed all day. The fire department had to come and cut the door open bigger so he could get out. Took 6 men to lift the stretcher out and get it to the ambulance.
They should have left him to die, dug a hole next to the trailer and used a back hoe to push him and the trailer into the hole and cover it up with dirt.

I'm not sure if this was a seat issue as the arm rests can be removed which the ground crew most likely did. It may have been the passenger couldn't physically lift his big arse out of the seat on his own without major assistance after sitting for an extended time.
Just another day in the airline business.

I was on a flight yesterday into MSY with a massive lady right across the aisle from me. It was funny that she had the armrest between her aisle seat and the middle seat up because she was so big and the guy that came to sit in the middle seat just happened to be this rail thin dude that could fit and apparently didn't mind her being in 25% of his seat.
The best part of the flight was when she dropped her cookies (Biscoff!) on the floor in the aisle. She made a half-arse attempt to get them and then reached over and poked me and pointed at them. I put my foot on them and slid them over to her but she still couldn't reach down to the floor to pick them up and poked me again. My brain said to tell her "Maybe you don't need those..." but I thought better of it and handed them to her.

You don’t get that fat by just regular eating. Gluttony must win.

Morbidly obese.

A decade ago Samoa Airways went to "pay what you weigh" ticketing. They weigh you and your baggage and that's what you pay. Their defense?
A kilo is a kilo is a kilo. It affects the amount of seats that can be sold, the amount of cargo that can be carried, and the amount of fuel needed.
Science and stuff.

The passenger was seated in 1A, a spacious first-class seat with 78 inches of legroom and a seat width of 22 inches, according to Seat Guru.
I’m fat af and I can sit comfortably in a 22” wide airplane seat. Especially if the armrest is retractable.
If XXL seats were a thing I’d pay more just to keep some jack leg from rubbing shoulders with me.

If he couldn't get out, how did he get in?
