My nephew is representing Louisiana in the Dixie Youth 12U world series this weekend.

The parents of the team were given the choice between Cooperstown, NY at the Field of Dreams or Atlanta. The parents overwhelmingly voted GA b/c of New York's vaccine requirements.

Sucks for my nephew. Playing in Cooperstown is a once in a lifetime experience he won't get b/c his Bucktown area parents don't want to be inconvenienced for a weekend.

I'm in ATL now and it's fricking hot. They won their first game btw

At least it's not Panama City Beach, the normal "World Series" site.

Well it sounds like NY is fricking up then.

BTW I don't think anybody is checking vax cards anymore, so why didn't they just lie?

I doubt jt has anything to do with vaccines. Do you know how many raffles/Buy a Square/MLM “sales” it would take to fund a NY trip? That’s a lotta Venmo.

Do you know what the current requirements are? Last I heard, they were requiring anyone 12 and over to be vaccinated to register to play. If it's a 12U league, I am sure there are a ton of 12 y/o on the team. Is it really as simple as a minor inconvenience if the ballpark is still requiring a lot of the players to get updated COVID vaccines (and possibly boosters) to play and parents don't want their 12-13 year-old kids to be vaccinated?

Funny, we got the invite there when I was 13. Our parents decided we could not afford the trip as team so the 2nd place team from state went up there and won the whole thing.. ole chalmette schockers. I remember seeing them on the news when their plane landed and being pissed off.
