The painters that did our house we recently built were some of the nicest people and were one of the few contractors that showed up on time and got shite done. 4 white guys that looked rough but did fantastic work.

Probably don’t want to hop in the Denali with coveralls soaked in paint spray.
I’ve worked in construction/contracting and you don’t want to trust laborers with nice vehicles. Cheap, shitty, and inexpensive is the way to go for the most part

The entire crew who painted my house did drive shitty vehicles. However, I believe they preferred weed as their drug of choice. Stoned at 0700 when they arrived every am, stoned when the came back from lunch. They showed up on time and painted straight lines though. No complaints here.

Because home builders cut cost at every point to profit, so they get Crack heads who do shity work cheap.
You want to see a fun bunch find a commercial roofing job, with out Mexicans doing the work. They look like zombies from the herion and pills. It is amazing how they don't die more often

Let me give you a pro tip. If you call up a painter looking to get a job done and they say they can start on it first thing tomorrow....run. Don't do bidness with those folks.

To keep it on subject, the best trim/finish painter I've ever known is a Guatemalan guy in his mid-50s. He paints trim for several contractors and remodelers and works as a jeweler in his spare time. He did both back in his home country growing up. That dude might as well be ambidextrous because he can out paint everyone else with either hand. Cuts down on time moving ladders and such. Dude is an absolute pleasure to be around, always laughing and cracking jokes.

My BiL used to be a manager of a fairly profitable SherwinWilliams.
He made a statement once that stuck with me. “These guys didn’t choose the life of painters, the life of a painter chose them.”
It’s the best job they can get that doesn’t require certification like plumbing, AC, or electrician.
