Really sad what that town has become. I graduated in 2002 and it was nothing like this.

I had a chip route there in like 1992 and it was a nice little town.

Enjoyed the month I spent in Ville Platte in 1994. Did a rotation with Dr. James Ardoin and felt I I got to meet the whole town. Unfortunately tragedy hit a few weeks after I left as Dr. Ardoin died in a helicopter crash. Sorry to hear the town is facing tough times

I grew up in Mamou and it wasn’t a bad place either. But once Klinton gave the Chinese MFN status in the 90’s everything changed for the worse.

Like a lot of towns, the normal middle class folks that was the reason for Ville Platte’s charm has basically high tailed it out of the city and live way on the outskirts. It’s a shell of its former self.

I knew him. His wife later died in 2010. Only in her 40s. Good people
