I'd say he's in a dead-heat with Jamarcus Russell, but at least JR got drafted #1 and made some coin. Both busts for sure, but Arik far out in front, so nowhere near a dead heat...

Bruh, in no way was Jamarcus a bust in college. Arik was the #1 rated high school tight end EVER and can’t get on a college field

I don’t wish him any ill-will, I just never want to hear his name again.

How well do you know his upbringing?

He and Jahleel Billingsley are going to have a heck of a battle one day for the tight end spot on some arena team’s roster.

I don't think that's it. He apparently has a real medical mental illness that's causing the problem.

Can't he get a medical redshirt for a year, get treatment, stay in shape, get well, then join a team? We make jokes but it seems like he's just getting shuffled around and not getting treatment.

That’s what he did in 2021.

He was away from Georgia that entire fall attempting to get help.

gotta be some good bookmark stuff from georgia fans over on the rant. we tried to tell em but they were militant.

They won back to back titles. I doubt they care about a guy who clearly has mental illness

It might be fun for UGA / LSU fans to go back and forth over this one, but this is a really sad story.

Hope he gets the help he needs.

Nebraska football is still waiting to find out if transfer tight end Arik Gilbert is eligible to play in 2023. They’re still waiting just days ahead of fall camp. Just a little over a month from the regular season.

More importantly, Gilbert is waiting to find out if he gets to play this year.

He can’t afford clothes so he just collects jerseys from universities.

Not sure guaranteed brain trauma from a possible decade of playing football will do him any favors.

After his freshmen year I could’ve sworn this kid was going to be an all-American first round pick.

I wouldn’t have thought his HS teammate at Marietta would end up being the bigger star at LSU when we got both of them, but BJ Ojulari ended up being a 2nd round pick and Arik is on his 4th college team if you count those 4 weeks when he was going to transfer to Florida.
