the easy fix for most of these companies will be to add a Cat. converter
how much added cost is that going to be? who knows

You can pry my generator from my cold, dead hands...

I love (hate) how this type of issue is brought up after there is little that we can do about it.
People need to be more involved in the public comments portion of rule making. It is my understanding that they are required by law to receive, review, and respond to ALL comments.
The best time for people to fight back on a proposed rule was when it is first published. This public comment period ended on June 20, 2023. If they were flooded with comments against the rule, then they may reconsider. Instead, after a quick review of the few comments that have been submitted, it appears that the public and some state environmental quality departments are for the rule and most of the industry against it.
After reading into the issue. I agree with requiring manufacturers to install automatic shutoffs when high/dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are detected. I think this practice is already becoming industry standard for manufacturers. The emissions standards part of the rule is excessive.
eta: Generac published and submitted a report showing that 80% of generator related CO deaths could have been avoided with an automatic shutoff.

100% could have been prevented if the user had followed the guidelines. 70 deaths per year. Similar to the number of people who die from bee stings.

Our government, executive politicians and legislators SUCK! They F up everything they touch, and they touch far too much. Let them hear about how shitty they are every time you have the opportunity.

I read this yesterday on Rantingly or Revolver somewhere and, when I did, it made me wonder why? What is the point to all of this? This is complete and total destruction.
This is being orchestrated and motivated by the NWO, Soros, China, Davos, etc., et al.
They're trying to get us to revolt, cause a civil war, send in the UN ... that's the only explaination. A Bridge too Far. Crossing the line. Probing us for our breaking point with plans of beating us into submission.

the tri-fuel generators at Costco were running for $700 or $750 last week
I bought 2 of the 4,000 watt inverter generators that they sell at Costco for $800 (Firman, same as the tri fuel). The manufacturer was selling refurbs on eBay for $330. I also got a firman 2100 watt inverter generator for $200. So for almost the price of 1 4k watt generator, I bought 10k watts worth.
They're not on sale anymore. But I think you can still get a 4k watt for $450. They also have a 2 year warranty with all state.

So now I will have to get a solar powered generator?

I wish someone would make the argument about the number of lives the generators save by keeping homes cool. A huge number of old and poor people die from heat (dehydration) after these storms.
It's time a Republican calls this proposal racist and classist. Poor people's blood is on their hands!
That seems to be a winning argument to this utter nonsense.

And 90% of those deaths are often from dumbasses that don't know how to use a portable generator. I.e., they run them inside their home, or in a poorly ventilated space, rather than outside the home.
One of the last storms, I remember a story about a man parking his generator outside house/apartment but near his bedroom window. The generator exhaust was towards the house and he had the window open. Finished him off at night apparently.
Make certain gen exhaust is facing away from the house.

They are ignoring a SCOTUS ruling. They don't care.

A proposed Consumer Product Safety Commission rule limits the amount of carbon monoxide a product can emit, with the commission admitting that 95 percent of portable gas generators on the market cannot comply with its new standard
Time for Harbor Freight to pad those pockets.

is it for personal safety or more regulation for the big bad boogey man that is “global warming” ?
For everything progressive and liberal scum are trying to regulate from existence, I want to see a comparison of how much CO2 they emit nationally annually, vs how much CO2 was put into the atmosphere from the Canadian wildfires.
Would be curious to see the analysis of NYC wood-fired pizza ovens to Canadian wildfires.
