New thug rap is garbage. Not a fan of jazz or EDM

Can't stand speed/thrash metal although I like a lot of what I'd call classic heavy metal.
Rap mostly sucks, although I can handle some 90's rap--a bit more jazzy backgrounds, less gangsta lyrics.
As far as Jazz, someone said "Jazz. They’re just making that shite up as they go and it sounds awful.". There's a great scene from "The Office" where Angela is distraught and crying and she says, "...and Jazz--why can't they just play the right notes?"
Ironically, jazz musicians are generally the most highly trained (outside of classical). While I always enjoyed New Orleans jazz, I never got into more "trad jazz" or "modern jazz" until my son went to NOCCA for jazz. Now I appreciate it much more, although it does get annoying when some dude takes off for 20 minutes on a maniacal clarinet solo.

The country of the last 20-30 years is terrible
I never realized why I hated country for most of my early life until I watched the Ken Burns doc. My formative years were filled with Conway Twitty bullshite ads on TV. I didn't know there was bluegrass, Cash, and "outlaw" country until near 2000.
Autotune and whatever the hell rap is doing these days sucks balls. Give me Snoop or Dre, but this weird bullshite these days can take a long walk off a short pier.

Rap and the majority of post-2000 music

Hard to say relative to entire genre, as there's usually something within any genre that is decent to good.
Right now though, most rap is unlistenable. Especially if it's popular. You have to dig for good rap and hip-hop it seems in the last 5-6 years or so.
Also, I think I've outgrown country music. I used to love it when I was younger and now I feel like most of it is just kinda dumb and pandering. There are some diamonds in the rough but most of it is just not good.

if we're talking Motown... That's some of the best music ever recorded.

i dont get the hate for country. i dont listen to it all the time, but id rather listen to female country than any of the shite females put out today.
But id go with dub step or any of that type of edm music that is just sounds. Not all electronic music sucks just certain ones that just seems like bass and static.

For me, it’s country. I think it has to do with it being kinda force fed to me at a young age. To this day, old country or new country, got no use for it.
there is plenty of awesome country that has been released the last 10-20 years or so, just nothing you hear on radio
you have to make a station on Pandora with Turnpike Trubadoors, Sturgill Simpson, Whiskey Myers, Charlie Robinson, or even Shooter Jennings and add all those folks to the list of things to add variety and you will find a whole new world of basically southern rock that will not disappoint.

So I'm the only oddball that enjoys all genres of music as long as it sounds good? I can appreciate all of it but that doesn't mean it's all good.
