Golden Child was kind of the beginning of the end of his unreal run.

He got so powerful that he started doing passion projects with all black casts, etc.

No problem if that's what he wanted to do, but he lost his magic during this time.

Another 48 hours is such a rewatchable movie for some reason. Cherry is an underrated bad guy.

I just watched both back to back, so damn good. Nolte and Murphy's chemistry is fantastic.

Also, Cherry Ganz>>>>> Albert Ganz

He doesn’t have many lines but he’s great anytime he’s on screen. These two scenes are great….

Hard to really consider that strictly an “Eddie Murphy movie” when it also had Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx.

Three generations of the greatest black comedians.

Decided to watch Beverley Hills Cop again. The opening scene makes me miss Glenn Frey.

Bump
Watched Beverley Hills Cop with the GF last night. Somehow she'd never seen it.

Anyway, we're at the scene where Axel drives up to the country club and says "Can you put this in a good spot, cause all this shite happened the last time I parked here".

She laughed so hard she spit out her wine.

I've never been more turned on in my life, she might be the one boys.

Just for that and Della Reese makes it a special movie. Not the best movie, but I enjoy it and very noteworthy.

There were a few years between the original cast leaving and Eddie coming on. But yeah, he saved the show.

He was also really young when he started on snl, like 22.

Eddie was a featured player in the godawful 1980 cast that replaced the remaining original cast.

At the end of the 1980-1981 season, virtually everyone got canned but him and Joe Piscopo, IIRC. Most of that cast was no names, though Gilbert Godfried was part of it.

The show was teetering between “staying” and “cancelled” for about the next six years until Lorne Michaels’ second season back with most of the cast that were mainstays for the remainder of the 80s / early 90s.

ranking the best “Actor X
movies” often gets complex for me because of the nuisance involved.

I’d argue that Coming to America is the best “Eddie Murphy Movie” because the movie itself best displays and represents his comedic genius.

I’d say that both Trading Places and 48hrs are better movies that Eddie Murphy is in, and he is a co-star in both…but also what makes the movie.

Beverly Hills Cop is the best movie where Eddie Murphy is the STAR…though maybe it’s neck and neck with Coming to America.

I‘ve always felt that Harlem Nights should be better than it is. Boomerang is a solid performance by Murphy, but ultimately,
it’s a rom com. The Golden Child is a movie I absolutely loved when I was younger - it’s obviously the “lite” version of Beverly Hills Cop.
