EDC one in the chamber or not?

I always carry with one in the pipe which to me seems logical. I generally carry a Glock 19 or 45 with no external safety. I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry 2 which I utilize the thumb safety but still keep one in the chamber. I have a few work baws that are scared to do it. What say the OB? I cant fathom carrying a gun without it being hot.

I never understand how people even wonder that. I agree, a bad guy isn't going to stop and wait for you to rack one in that kind of situation. Always be ready.

If there isn't a round in the chamber you might as well carry a rock

Good holster on my EDC holsters.
One in the chamber.
One in the chamber.

I no longer carry the 365 with one in the chamber.
Lots of reasons but the main one is that I can't stand the thought of what is basically a cocked single action pistol with one under the hammer sweeping people with the muzzle.
To me, the risks of having one in the pipe drastically outweigh the odds of me needing to deploy the gun in defense of life with no time to chamber a round.
Basic risk assessment for me says that round in the chamber is a bad idea with that handgun. Trigger pull is too light and too short for 100% no doubt no way anybody accidently pulls it.

why utilize a thumb safety if you generally don't have an external safety?

Unreasonable to carry without one in the chamber. If you have a "device", which, due to design flaws you do not trust to be safely carried, then do not carry that "device".

They are going to ask the bad guy for a timeout so they can load their weapon I guess.

This is the stupidest generalization repeatedly made on this website and that is a hell of a title to hold.
More people should carry on an empty chamber IMO. At minimum, you are going to handle that gun twice a day every day. That's two opportunities to accidently shoot it every single day. Statistically you are not going to ever use it for self defense. The odds are infinitely higher of an AD than saving someone with the gun. Odds of an AD are zero with an empty chamber and it becomes a wash.
I get why people carry with one in the pipe and why they do not. Know what the condition of the weapon is and be smart about how you use it and this is a non issue.
The "this is my safety (while shaking trigger finger)" people need to quit being ridiculous.

Look at the Bul Armory SAS 3.25 2011. I have the 4.25 and its one of the best handguns I own. I carry a 365 X macro for 80% of my CCW. Carry the Bul in the winter time.

Nifty looking little rig there.
Holy price tag though.
I never really liked the idea of carrying a 1911 or anything with a grip safety for that matter.
Plain ol DA/SA is the way to go for this dude.

might as well make the argument to not even carry a gun. statistically, the gun will be used against you as well.

It's a damn easy one to make.
I carry both ways. Both ways have merits. Some people are stupid and cannot understand that.

This is the most foolish, ignorant thing you've posted recently. Few people "Handle" their weapon like you are suggesting. In most cases, it doesn't leave the holster when being stored or moved.
If you are that afraid of your weapon, you don't understand it well enough to be safe.
A safely handled firearm, 99% of firearms, NEVER have an accidental discharge.

Yes, but I trust my safety and have good finger discipline.

One in mine it's DA though. Make it a no brainer. When I carried a small 1911 I was definitely a lot more nervous about it.

I’m left handed and I don't like using a safety. So I don't have one in the chamber.
I can definitely see the reason people do.

The fun and games have already started. The few times I do carry, it's with one in the chamber
