Any recommendations for a good hiking/hunting boot? I’ll be up there up for a 2nd season rifle hunt in the Grand Junction area.

Thanks

I hunted CO for years in a pair of Muck Whitetails, I don’t think they make them Anymore. I tried to stay lower in insulation for my boots so I didn’t sweat so much. Find something that’s comfortable for your foot and maybe add some good insoles that fit your feet. If you have a fleet feet around you they can do a 3D scan of your foot and recommend a good insole.

I’ve decided to try some true hiking boots.

I’ve got a pair of Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid GTX that I’ve hiked in a few times and they’re great. With that in mind, I read a bunch of reviews and bought a pair of Salomon Quest 4 GTX to use on my first elk hunt this year.

They won’t be good for crossing deep creeks, but many hunters have given great reviews on them for all day hiking comfort and warmth.

Here’s just one outdoors website that ranks these two boots in their top 3.

Switchback Travel

Site after site has these two boots in their top choices.

Bought danners for my trip to Montana based on fried recommendatik. Now that’s all I wear great quality and comfort.

Place I went a lot of the guides wore scheens as well.

Schnees beartooth uninsulated is what I have. Has served me very well both 1st and 2nd rifle.

We were in knee deep snow all of 2nd rifle last year and my feet stayed dry and warm.

Insulated boots are not what you want for dashing through the snow. By the time you make it 30 minutes from camp, you'll be down to your base layer shirt and regular pants sweating your arse off.

I bought the crispi colorados and really like them. I went uninsulated for early archery season.

I used danners and they killed my feet even after breaking them in for two months before my hunt. Switched to Lowa Renegades and now that is all I wear. They are not as high on the ankle which I found more comfortable. Camofire has them on sale today also. They fit true to size, at least for me.
