Is Florida better than Wake? About as good as Wake? Or is it that they are damn good, well rested, and will have use of their Ace while ours (and the team) are sucking wind from such a difficult week?

I’m not saying we lose, I’m just genuinely curious if we got a shot or did we blow it all out last night? I’ll hang up and listen…

they have 2 great arms for starting pitchers and a hell of a line up with power. I thought LSU and UF were the 2 best teams all year. I only wish we were as rested as they are.

Certainly more holes for vulnerability pitching wise than what Wake had

They are a better hitting team than Wake, but Wake has a better pitching staff.

We need our bullpen to maintain course and our bats to wake up a little bit more but we definitely have a shot.

Well, one thing is for damn sure, LSU isn't just going to give them the series. They're gonna have to beat us twice.

They are not as deep in pitching and similar in hitting as Wake. Florida is near the top of SEC in most batting stats, just below LSU. They have 2 good pitching starters, and a few solid relievers. Their arms are definitely more rested. I think Wake was a tougher matchup for us because of pitching. But we are not the same team in a series without Skenes starting for us, so this is going to be a battle.

Nephew is an FU grad.

Says they have one really good player, Jac Caglione, who I just looked up and can pitch and 1B.

Said they're good but so is Wake Forest.

That being said, Geaux Tigers!!!!!

When it is all said and done, I think a look back at this season will show that Wake and Florida will have been the two top teams we have faced all year. And Florida looks like it was peaking through bracket play. LSU pitching also seems to be peaking but that is undoubtedly still the main concern for LSU.

But this team is certainly capable of beating anyone we have or will face, including Florida. If Floyd can hold it together for 5-7 innings, we can win game 1 if the bats do not go silent. If we win game 1, I feel like we win the whole thing. If we lose game one, I feel like we can still win, it just looks more dire. Because we then need another one of those unexpected pitching performances to pull the win off.

Wake has a far better and deeper pitching staff. But I do think Florida has a better offense. Getting to Florida's bullpen is to our advantage as opposed to Wake's bullpen and starters being equally dominant.

I had serious doubts about our ability to be wake once, I thought they were the guys to beat, and we did it in a rag tag method. Sometimes baseball is funny. Win or lose super proud of where we are

Despite what Wake's numbers would say, Florida has much more pop in their lineup. You also have a wind shift coming. I expect the games this weekend to play much differently.

On the bright side, their pitching staff doesn't have near the depth of Wake's. Florida had a slightly higher team ERA in the regular season than LSU. The key will be keeping their starters from going deep into games.

Wake is 100% better. Seeing some people say that Florida has “a much better offense”, that isn’t true. Wake is (was) statistically better across the board offensively than Florida. And we already know Wake had the best pitching staff in the country.

Batting Average Rank

LSU: 20th
FL: 86th
WF: 34th

Team ERA

LSU: 20th
FL: 33rd
WF: 1st

On Base %

LSU: 4th
FL: 84th
WF: 7th

Hits Allowed Per 9 Innings

LSU: 5th
FL: 12th
WF: 1st

WHIP

LSU: 7th

Obviously with Skenes not being able to go, these numbers change drastically for us so take these as you will.

Florida's offense is better

Their pitching has really good stuff, but less polish than Wake's staff.

In a normal Friday-Sunday series. LSU likely takes 2/3.

From what I can tell, their starters are great, but not close to the level of Skenes/Lowder. They've also gotten insanely lucky at getting out of based loaded situations this CWS. I think teams are 0-fer with bases loaded against them. And the Virginia coach gave the game away in Game 1 against them.

Both their main starters have raw numbers similar to Ty Floyd. But I have no clue about their starters' "stuff."

Floyd - 4.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 0.210 Opp BA, 0.43 BB/IP

Waldrep - 3.99 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 0.223 Opp BA, 0.51 BB/IP
Sproat - 4.66 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 0.217 Opp BA, 0.42 BB/IP

Caglinone - 3.68 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 0.186 Opp BA, 0.71 BB/IP. Cags is so wild that he's hard to hit.

LSU absolutely needs Game 1.

I would say their pitching staff resembles Tennessee with Lindsey and Beam more than it does Wake win Lowder and Hartle.
