facing UFs top 2 (probably) without Skenes isn't ideal either. tough proposition to even get to Monday under those circumstances. did u see Hursten Waldrep absolutely shove for USCe? CGSO I think

we should be thrilled to get 2 vintage Skenes performances (8+ IP) in Omaha. Dont try to force a 3rd start/appearance. bucks his usage pattern all year

Fuk it, let him pitch 45 innings straight.

Game 1,2,3,4,5

Too bad he never learned to pitch left handed also.

roll the dice with Hurd/Floyd in game 1 so that we'll have Skenes for marbles game vs the unanimous #1 ranked WF.

Wow!! This is dumb. You pitch Skenes in Game one period. That way he’s available sooner to throw again. Some of you are just utterly clueless. I’m just glad Tenner won so we won’t have to debate this silliness like we would have if USM had won.

have a hard time seeing us get 3 starts out of him barring rain delays. 4 days rest, then come back on 3 days rest? how?

Yeah, 3 starts is not happening but 3 appearances? Definitely. Game 1, game 4, and at some point during the finals. Could see him doing 30-50 pitches depending on what happens before that pitch count wise.

So when exactly do we bring him back? On 3 days rest? For a game that might not even happen?

No, still prefer to line him up for our toughest game (Wake-marbles game) and for him to be on full rest for his championship series start.

Throwing him vs Wake & being on full rest for probably Florida>>>>>>>> trying to get him out there a 3x (w/ 2 being on short rest)

He would get two starts. You used to be able to squeeze three starts out of your number 1 but not with the more compact format

LSU plays game #4 on Saturday at 6:00pm. If they win, it’s on to game #& on Monday at 6:00pm. Go 2-0 and its bracket final on Wednesday at 6:0Opm. I would think Skenes pitches Saturday and perhaps Wednesday. If they drop to losers bracket it’s more games and who knows.

On 3 days rest? Dont see it. Maybe a short relief appearance on what would probably be a bullpen day. Certainly not a full skenes start

I want him ready to go on nearly full rest for the CS. 2 vintage skenes outings>>>>> trying to pigeon hole a 3rd appearance from him just for the hell of it

Jay spoke on Mik’d Up and said “we get to see this guy 2 or 3 more times.”

If it all goes as planned, I think 2 starts and a relief appearance aren’t out of the question.

Yea that certainly points to Paul starting Saturday... not that it was ever in doubt. Just saying how i would line it up

Here's to Floyd absolutely shoving vs WF. The ballpark could certainly mask some of Ty's deficiencies as an SP

Go look at Alex Lange 2017 in Omaha. If we could have beaten Florida in one of those two games Lange would have been on the mound for game 3. That is how Skenes is going to be used.

Game 1 Skenes
Game 2 Floyd/Hurd
Game 3 Hurd/staff
Game 4 If necessary Skenes
Game 5 If necessary Floyd/Hurd

Game 1 Finals Hurd/Staff
Game 2 Finals Coleman/Herring/Cooper
Game 3 Finals Skenes/Floyd

I can’t help but feel like this is setting up exactly like 2017…with us clashing with UF in Championship series with our top pitching options unavailable. Man I’d love to face them with a loaded gun

Game 1 (Sat 6/17 - 6PM) - Skenes

Then it just depends on what happens from there. If we win, game 2 is Monday 6/19 @ 6PM. That's Floyd's game likely vs WF. If we lose, play Tuesday @ 6 in an elimination game. If we win, play Wednesday @ 6 for our bracket final. I think either way, Hurd, Coleman or Cooper start game 3.

I think Skenes is likely to come back for game 4, whether that's the "if necessary" game 2 of the bracket final, or game 1 of the championship series.

Obviously, it'd be ideal if we went undefeated through our bracket and had him available for game 1 of the championship series, as opposed to playing the extra game in the bracket and him pitching in game 4 there. In that scenario, I would think it's likely we potentially see him in a game 3 of the championship series in relief at some point.

Bottom line, I think in order for Skenes to pitch twice, we're going to have to win 2 games regardless.

We’re in Omaha and there are no slouches. You throw Skenes game one. Period.
