He doesn't have the arm to be a good outfielder. I don't understand why he wouldn't be a 1st baseman if he can make it in the big leagues as a hitter. He's a phenomenal 1st baseman and an average outfielder. WHy would a team not want someone like that at 1st?

Phenomenal is a stretch, but I agree it's his best position.

he’s the best 1B I’ve ever seen just in general MLB wants guys who aren’t as athletic but can mash playing on the corners. Tre doesn’t fit that mold,

How could you say he isn’t phenomenal? Big Ben says he’s elite all the time.

The issue is the in the majors, 1st is often where they stash their best hitters.

He is phenomenal.

We have a very good defense, but he makes us better with his range and ability to scoop balls from the dirt. I hope we stick with him in the CWS.

No it isn't, you naysaying shitgobbler. Morgan is one of the most talented defensive first baseman in college baseball history and that's not even remotely a stretch.

most teams are willing to sacrifice some defense at 1B for power

I do think Morgan can keep developing power wise.

This is a stretch. We have a solid defense. Morgan at 1st saves a ton of bad throws. His stretch and dig on that Thompson throw yesterday was more impressive than the play Thompson made.

You never realize how good someone is until they leave. He saves us one or two outs a game and I’m not sure we have someone that can replace that next year.

It's not an issue upon which reasonable minds cannot differ, so I don't know why people here get so upset when Moscona has an opinion that differs.

This.

In the MLB the first baseman doesn't have to be a golden glove type defender because MLB defenses usually don't make difficult throws to first base.

Jared Jones has a better shot at playing first base in the MLB than Tre, IMO. He fits the mold, plus he will get better at the position while maintaining big league hitting. With that said if Tre can translate his college hitting/OBP to the MLB he will make it but probably playing outfield.
