Not a lot of games set in stone just yet, but the November 4 slot is set for an evening game, and the only SEC game I can see possibly challenging LSU/Alabama is A&M/Ole Miss. Who gets first pick between CBS and ESPN?

If A&M Ole Miss is chosen over us and Bama we have some real issues...

CBS bailed on LSU v Alabama after the 2020 primetime blowout. ESPN gladly thanked them for it because the 2021 near upset was (I think) the highest rated regular season game on cable that year and 2022 was arguably the regular season game of the year.

While it doesn't explicitly say it just yet, Nov. 4th is a double-header day for one reason and one reason only. LSU @ Alabama will kickoff at 6:45 pm (CT)

Nothing like blasting "ba dun da dun dun da dun" at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon while drinking and grilling in the cool autumn air.

Hopefully they retire the theme because it won’t fit right with the Big 10 games.

When they pick that week for a DH, you know LSU-Bama is penciled in for the night game. Only thing that would screw it up is if one team completely derails, and even then it's probably still the night game. Unless aTm and Ole Miss are having a stellar season.

There is no “first pick” between CBS and ESPN on Nov 4th. Both of those timeslots will be on CBS. It will be up to them which games they choose to put in them.

Who is CBS think they are kidding by scheduling the doubleheader games only 3 1/2 hours apart?

Just win baby. Take care of business and we will get the prime time slots.

Florida State appears to be the "losable" game for the Tigers prior to Alabama. The schedule works out well for a 7-1 (or 8-0) LSU vs a 8-0 Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 4th. No way that isn't the PRIME TIME game.

Arkansas/Florida is a wild card in the mix as well. But I agree, the reason they scheduled their doubleheader for this particular week is for LSU/Bama. CBS passed on it the last 2 years and have probably regretted it both times due to how the games went.

Now I would rather play the Tide in Death Valley, but LSU still has a better overall record in Tuscaloosa than any other SEC team.

I hope that the theme music is sold to ESPN. I thought I may have read that they plan to continue the music, but that may have just been a dream.

I don't even think it is "penciled" in. I think it is carved in stone. While from a rivalry standpoint it is not on par with Auburn v. Alabama or Michigan v. Ohio St., LSU v. Alabama has become a nationally recognized game that all college football fans pay attention too.

Because of their success Alabama has become a polarizing team. Ether fans love them or hate them. Either way, if you are a casual fan you are tuning in to watch them because (a) you want to see them dominate or (b) you want to see them lose. That being the case, LSU is their only annual opponent that has generally been competitive (Auburn has been up and down vs. Alabama). If you are an Alabama fan the LSU game is interesting because you get to face an opponent that may have the capacity to give you a fight. If you are an Alabama hater you tune in because LSU is a viable challenger.

As I said above, the game had started to lose a little bit of prime-time luster beginning around 2017 when Alabama was clearly superior. That's why the 2019 game was a 2:30 start for the first time in 8 years. CBS immediately put the game back on at 7:00 pm in 2020 only for LSU to be destroyed. By that time Georgia had ascended to become Alabama's main challenger in the SEC and CBS didn't see LSU v. Alabama as a "primetime" game any longer. 21 and 22 were great games that would have been huge draws for CBS...had they picked those games. They aren't making that mistake again in this, their final season.

I’ll take the 2:30 or 6:45 CST kickoffs for the Bama game. It being a road game I don’t mind a good fall afternoon day.

Opening deer season up with a tide arse kicking and hopefully a 8 pt buck.
