So he’s not against a 9 game schedule, he just doesn’t want Alabama’s permanent opponents to be the best programs in the league?

Alabama is on the verge of a surprising endorsement for eight conference games after Nick Saban voiced frustration with the SEC's three proposed permanent rivals for the Tide (Auburn, LSU and Tennessee) should the league expand to nine games. Should the program follow Saban's battle cry, the Tide would join forces with at least four schools in opposition to the proposal for a nine-game schedule beginning in 2024, sources tell 247Sports.

Alabama fans, defend this bullshite. 9 games would mean more tv money and better home games for every team.

Because y’all just HAD to protect the Tennessee game because it was “Just so special” y’all fricked the rest of the league from playing east and west more often. Now that the league wants to give you the most watched SEC game over the past 20 years and your two hated rivals y’all want to take the ball and go home?

I’d like to see a 9 game SEC schedule and the 3 OOC games be against the power 5.

IF we’re going to 12 team playoffs, I’d like to see a shite ton more data on how good these teams really are.

If we have to watch 9-3 teams make a goddamn playoff, we need to know which of the 9-3 teams are halfway decent.

I hope most Bama fans agree with you and voice it to your AD. Hell, I’ll even through the well respected and revered reputation of my tigerdroppings persona onto the letter in the form of a notarized signature

does seem like they stacked a few teams with some tougher opponents based on their recent success, while also potentially losing some long standing history. Probably a better solution out there.

Here’s the great thing, you can switch in 4 years

An 8 game model does t rally work with 16 teams. 15 other schools, 3 perms, rotate other 12 schools on the other 5 games. Math doesn’t work. 9 game model, 15 other schools, 3 permanents, 12 teams, rotate 6 other teams every year

It would be 1-7 type of model. 1 permanent, 7 rotating. This would still allow for all teams to play home and away in 4 years

One permeant opponent, play 7 teams home and away, then play the other 7 teams home and away. A four year player will have played in every SEC stadium.

Seven schools prefer expanding the schedule to nine games, sources told 247Sports this week. Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State and South Carolina oppose the nine-game model. Both models eliminate the SEC's Eastern and Western divisions, and will require new tiebreaker rules.

Provided the SEC isn't totally braindead, it would appear if they wanted to sway the flagship University in the SEC they need to negotiate. Now, what could they offer that BAMA would listen to?

I know, set the 9-game schedule up for ALABAMA just like they are setting it up with LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, and everyone else. Otherwise, the answer is no. Frankly, if the SEC is not going to pay extra for the added attraction then we should play 8 until they pay up anyway.

WHY wouls the SEC pay anything extra to schedule another game? They share revenue based on what the conference brings in. Another conference fame adds more TV revenue and ticket revenue. I would not be surprised if the cupcake games operated at a loss. Paying $1 million for a team to show up and generally speaking, most major programs don't net over a million in profit when hosting a game after all expenses.

12 team CFP model benefits the SEC in an expanded conference schedule. Your SOS will be higher, making it less brutal to your standings if you lose a conference game.i guarantee you will see no less than 3 SEC teams in the CFP every year when the expansion rolls out. Heck it might even be a minimum of 4. Right there is massive TV revenue.

All this bitching is coming from teams who are worried about not benefitting personally, rather than the massive boost it will provide the conference as a whole.

Not so much in favor to a 9 game conference schedule as much as I am to seeing the OOC schedules beef up

Neutral site games can be canned too.

Check with your team's AD and HC and tell him how you feel. The OOC schedule is yours to do with what you want. Or don't want.

LSU generates $5.15 million in ticket sales for each home game. Cupcake games make money.

Hard to fill stadiums when you’ve got throw away games against Istanbul Tech. 9 was better. But Saban complained so they changed.

I don’t care what they do as long as they eliminate divisions. Hate when east teams play west teams once every 7 years.
