If y'all really want to investigate something, look into how Grad City is rumored to have canceled their night events due to weather, but Grad Week still loaded this boat up with 400+ kids and took off. They shouldn't have even been out there.

Weather wasn’t the reason the kid willingly jumped off the boat

No, but it did make conditions not conducive to rescuing - there are plenty of scenarios where a drunk kid could have gone overboard without jumping. They shouldn't have been out there.

So no more drunk people on boats because one guy died? Seems like a bit of an overreaction

If you're looking for someone to blame, I'm not sure how the finger doesn't land on the kid who jumped, the kids who encouraged it, and the parents who sent a bunch of teenagers to the Bahamas to booze it up alone for a week.

ETA: To be clear, these are decisions any one of us or our kids could have made, so I'm not judging. I'm just saying the blame is not with the boat people.

Sometimes shite just happens. It sucks but it’s not the first time and won’t be the last. There’s no reason for anyone to freak out unless you’re closely related to the kid.

It’s not a theory bc you can see a big arse shark turn quickly and dart toward him, while he immediately starts to swim the other way. It’s certainly not comical either.

People really want there to be a shark for some reason. A shark may have eventually gotten him but it didn't happen during that video. Not sure what some people are watching. I guess attention spans aren't long enough to dissect a minute long slomo video.

No one “wants there to be a shark”. We are watching it in the clip another poster shared.

That clip doesn't show you shite. You can still see him at the end of the clip just not as well because the boat lights changed to a dimmer red and not bright white. Here he is at the end of the clip.

You can see him again behind the net when the lights turn bright white again. Notice how much brighter the net is when the white lights are on compared to how dark the net is when the dimmer lights are on.

There is a 2nd video from another phone that is 5 seconds long. It’s from a considerable distance further from the first video as the camera seems to zoom in. It’s pitch black majority of the video except for spilt seconds of the heat lightning lighting up the water and you can a see him still above water but floating out. The narrator is saying “there he is there he is”. I would assume this video was after the video circulating in a timeline due to distance and lighting.

Truly a horrible and tragic incident. Feel horrible for his parents and family.

This video shows him floating out too except for the late night OT special ed crew.

Yes, I saw that in the slo mo video. He was clearly visible above water and then this frame is when begins to fade under

The camera rapidly moving and losing focus in dim lighting conditions is what makes him "disappear" there. Once the bright lights turn back on he "reappears".

Yes, I know. When it pans back as he reappears, he is submerged. His head and arms are no longer on top of the water in the pic you posted. And then the area where you last see him goes dark.

His arms are above the water when he's behind the net. You can't "see" his arms before that when the lights dim because the camera can't focus on him that far away in those light conditions.

Did you see what is a mile East of that location ? Open ocean. I have read some of the dumbest stuff ever in this thread.
