I’ll never understand it.. I played all 4 years in high school at 3rd base and only made 1 error. I never dropped a pop up.. I had a throwing error I never should have thrown it.. it was a slow roller and I wanted to make a play.. really should have been an infield hit..

I bet if they’d put you in the 4th quarter y’all’d have won State.

Bet you can throw it over them mountains too.

He can go from looking like a D2 infielder at best to having a top 10 play lol.

Thompson has played solid shortstop all year. He only has 9 errors. The dropped pop up was bad last night but that doesn’t take away from the rest of the season.

I can't believe I am comparing Bregman and Thompson but here it is. Bregman could seem to make an error at the most inopportune time. Thompson seems to make a great play at the most opportune time.

He’s at his best when he doesn’t have time to think about it

I had a personal coach hired by my parents that played for the dodgers. No in football I played defense.

I have no regrets

He’s been the everyday shortstop since the jump and only has 9 errors on the year. This board just loves to hate on him

What a play. Professional gold glove snag, big league throw.

I'd bet Thompson would be the first position player to pitch if we exhausted all bullpen options in a game

probably throws 95mph+ with some late action

100%. Said it last year and it holds true. When he doesn’t think and just does, he is really good. Another issue he has at times is doesn’t always know the baserunner’s speed and rushes unnecessarily.

The dropped pop up was bad, but then you saw Dugas struggling heavily with the pop up from the next batter and you realized how hard those balls must have been to track. That wind was whipping.

That’s the hardest throw from him I’ve seen. It was an incredible clutch play and I’ve watched it several times. He definitely went beast mode.

Click on the link, then find the LSU - Ga video recap, labeled "Pearson, White carry No. 5 LSU past Georgia". It's toward the end of the highlights. Awesome.

I think Morgan was in awe of the play and the perfect throw..

I thought the same thing. Morgan was shocked that ball hit him in the glove chest high, shocked he did not have to dig it out the dirt on 2 hops

Don’t give him a routine play, don’t let him think about it. But crazy plays no one makes, there he shines

His error yesterday (ruled a hit) was on a tough fielding play in the hole. I’m calling it an error because he made the tough play then overthrew the ball to first.

No one wants to admit but he has way more great plays than bad plays this year.

This got 64 upvotes and one downvote by a bunch of people who don’t want to admit it?
