Yeah, no carplay is a deal breaker for me or the wife(no pics). Carplay is such an underrated piece of software by Apple. Waze and Spotify running at all times for me.

My parents got a GMC Acadia the first year they came out. My mom (born in bread in Franklin, La. and has never lived outside of South Louisiana) would get so worked up because onstar didnt do well with her accent. shite would have me rolling sometimes.

Maybe they should upgrade that Stone Age On Star service. What a waste of money to subscribe to that.

their new rear seat entertainment system is garbage. I cannot believe they are luring soccer mom's to pay for this in the new GM SUV's.

What's even the point of it when a couple of iPads are cheaper than the option to have a rear seat entertainment system?

Honestly kids are overexposed to screens as it is and I say that as someone who works in tech.

Oh I totally agree. I did not get it in the wife' s Tahoe after seeing a friends and having them explain you have to use GM wireless crap system to watch anything. We have a ipad and stream it off of a phone if they want to watch something in the car.

My wife has Toyota and they have some shitty program called Entune. It sucks arse and I hate it.

Entune doesn’t block CarPlay though, like this sounds like it would. It’s just basic functions for the car.

Our Jeep has proprietary garbage. Won't do that again after getting a second vehicle that has Android Auto / Carplay.

UConnect one of the best in house systems in all of the various automakers by a long shot and even then Jeep vehicles (and most other FCA/Stellantis brands) started supporting CarPlay and Android Auto 3 or 4 years ago.

Yep. GM thinks its hot shite because of OnStar. They're about to FA/FO.

Oh 100%. What's even funnier is they are hedging their best b/c they are only doing this crap w/their EVs which is an absolutely arse backwards idea. They just spent however many billions ramping up their EV production and developing their Ultium tech but are essentially putting themselves at the back of the line of a the average EV purchasers mind.

Here's what will happen

A sizeable portion of people will flat out not even consider them b/c of this move.

GM will think "Oh... no problem there are plenty of people who won't care that much" and to a degree they'll be right. Unfortunately for them, most of those people are going to already be buying things like Tesla and Rivian.

You don't have to use Entune to use Carplay or Android auto.

Waze and Spotify is the GOAT combo.

My 2019 Audi doesn't have wireless CarPlay but my 2021 Sierra does. Audi getting replaced this year and wireless CarPlay is a must

We test drove the XC60 a few weeks ago and I was floored that it still needed a cord.

Man, that '99 Buick I saw at the local used car lot last week looks tempting these days.

I'm extremely skeptical of most new technology, especially in cars, but CarPlay / Android Auto are excellent and unobtrusive additions to the driving experience.

GM is making a terrible decision here. It's not 1985. Nobody tolerates proprietary bullshite anymore.

Well that’s a relief. By the time I’m ready to buy an EV they’d have figured out their mistake.

I might buy a gas or diesel truck from them. Glad it will retain CarPlay.
