Microsoft will hold off on offering salary increases to full-time employees, CEO Satya Nadella told staffers by email Wednesday.

The move aligns with Microsoft’s efforts to reduce costs as revenue growth slows and clients reel in spending. In January, the software maker said it would cut 10,000 jobs, or just under 5% of its workforce. Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and other tech companies have downsized as well in recent months.

This information comes from reports published back in October of last year, when the 2022 earnings of the Microsoft executive board were revealed. Microsoft reported that CEO Satya Nadella stayed on a salary of $2.5 million, but also earned an additional $54.95 million through bonuses.

This means that Nadella made, on average, 289 times that of his workers, with seemingly no attempt made to close this gap.

These people have no shame.

It's an excuse to switch to the "if they don't ask for a raise" mentality.

Microsoft (MSFT) last ex-dividend date was on May 16, 2023. Microsoft distributed $0.68 per share that represents a 0.9% dividend yield.

quote:

According to Microsoft's latest financial reports and stock price the company's current number of shares outstanding is 7,441,000,000.

quote:

Microsoft had 221,000 employees on June 30, 2022

7,441,000,000 shares x $0.68/share = $5,059,880,000

$5,059,880,000 per last quarter / 221,000 employees = $22,895.38 per employee for a single quarter, potentially.

And they didn't get a raise when inflation skyrocketed.

Why do we have companies again?
