After getting the call in the sixth round, Kayshon Boutte became the first New England Patriots draft pick to get under contract.

The former LSU wide receiver signed his four-year, $4.027 million rookie deal on Thursday, as detailed by PatsCap’s Miguel Benzan and KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson.

The agreement includes a $187,274 signing bonus along with a 2023 base salary of $750,000.

I really hope this draft process humbled him and his NFL career works out for him.

$1M/yr isnt a bad consolation prize for having a rough final season and looking bad at combine, but it could have been so much more

That being said is any of that $4M guaranteed?

Considering his awful combine including a ridiculous 29” vert, and not testing at LSU’s pro day, $4M/4Y has to look pretty good.

It’s a great opportunity. He’ll have to put in the work to see all of that 4M.

Probably the signing bonus and that’s it. The NFL doesn’t do a lot of guaranteed money, unlike baseball.

No. Outside of his singing bonus, he won't start getting checks until games are played.

If he doesn't make the team, he could conceivably only make $187,274 playing professional football.

Just take 400k each year out and forget it.

The government will take that much out per year, probably more. He’ll have probably 500,000 a year to live on and with a kid and baby momma he’ll be lucky to save 20% of it.

I think the only part of it that's guaranteed is the signing bonus.

He has to make the team in order to get his salary. He's a 6th round pick.

$187,000 that will have taxes and agent fees taken out

He probably will clear maybe 100-110 K from that

That's a nice year's salary, but if he doesn't make the team then it's not like he can sit back and retire on that

His agent gets 3%, so if he only got the signing bonus and didn't make the team he would make a bit over $180K. He could have made more coming back to college. That would have also given him a year to further recover and get back in shape. If he was willing to work for it, that would have been his better option.
