Cliff's notes, please. Local media up here seem to be bent over backwards to say the reasons for leaving aside from to do a new thing.

Methodist churches have divorced. The woke Methodists got the better end of the deal.

It depends on the conference and other politics. Hard to give a cliffs version. Find out your conference and visit their site to figure out what exactly it means for your congregation.

Of course they didn't. Those churches will slowly die.

Does anyone else think the disruptions of church congregations are a product of democrat/liberal long term game to destroy the American fabric of life, much like they're doing with school boards and higher education?

I got a letter from my Family’s Methodist church from back when I was in high school about this. I have not lived there in 25 yrs. Lol. Whoever they got tracking old members down is pretty good.

Does it matter? Do you need to be a part of a church that doesn't agree with your convictions? If so, stay. If not find another church.

I didn’t even realize just how "progressive" the UMC was. I know absolutely nothing about that denomination but I did some research. That denomination will eventually die. It's pretty crazy how infiltrated churches have become.

I do.

It’s part of progressive Marxists’ long game to unmoor Americans from any meaningful religious adherence, to inject social, political, and economic chaos, and then to offer a savior State that promises security.

Without faith in God or any other deity, people will be MUCH MORE vulnerable to the administrative class’ fear-based, bait-and-switch con as people look to man or themselves alone for peace and safety.

These Marxists - who outwardly align with familiar political parties but actually all belong to the same group with the same aim - have infiltrated every influential American inistitution with the goal of rotting their cultural and moral cores.

It’s communism by the back door.

It’s how free nations are made sympathetic to collectivist and communitarian ideals with very demanding strings attached.

My family is currently at refugee status bc it was setup to where your members must be at supermajority (67%)to disaffiliate when a vote is taken. We were at 62%. So the result is the buildings and land stayed with the UMC. So now 62% of the members along with the free labor, upkeep, and trust moneys they provided have been forced to either stay and admit defeat to Blessing Sexual Immorality, or hit the road and find a different church to worship Christ

Since leaving our local fUMC, my family and I are visiting various churches.

It’s hard to find a church if you’re not into the newish “community church” with all the praise bands.

You've seen the Red and Blue maps of the US as to individual persons and counties and the map is largely blue. I think if you did a worldwide map of the United Methodist Church, the map would be similar. It would be widely blue if you did it by individual and jurisdictions. We were to have had general conferences in past years but the "brains" of the outfit thought it unfair as to getting the largely conservative contingent from Africa. They are more conservative than in the American Traditionalist counterparts here in the US. They came up with some flimsy excuse saying they would be unable to due to covid. Horse excrement.
They postponed the next conference and then did an end run this past Spring abolishing what we all thought would be an amicable way of separating with those choosing to leave could do so without draconian rules as to what happened. My fairly large church in Ms will end up paying over a million dollars to disaffiliate. It was dirty and it was underhanded but it but a microcosm of the evil that is the left. By any means necessary.

Time to go old school and meet at peoples homes, and grow organically from there. Even if the next step is pooling enough of your tithes to rent an office space.

Good luck to y'all having to go thru this, but leaving the comfort you are use to is needed to get away from the evil that has penetrated the UMC.

God bless.

In what currency, exactly, are you referring to?

Is this for the bldg/land or some kind garbage "seperation fee" that is mostly just profit for UMC?

If it's bldg/land then seems like something the congregation can get together on to collect.

I’m interested as well. My wife’s family small town Alabama church had to stay because they couldn’t afford to leave. A lot of members left. They say you have to pay the pension of the minister? I was like why not just say no and go create another church? Seems weird that you have to pay money to leave
