Pretty smart..
Going against LSU and Skenes is almost certainly a loss..if you are trying to win two out of 3.. it’s pretty smart I was wondering when teams would do this.. it’s been done in the past

They still didn't expect to be down 10 runs after 2 innings.

Not smart. LSU’s weakness is their bullpen. Now we’ll either run rule them and not use anyone, or finish the game and not use anyone of consequence to close it out. Now we’ll have all of our bullpen arms for the next two games.

You can throw in intentionally walking Crews in the first to give White an extra RBI while we’re talking idiocy. Couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it.

Not to mention that UK’s bullpen is one of their strengths.

And if we can’t match our run production tonight the next two games, we may be in trouble. The way Kentucky is hitting Skenes doesn’t bode well for the rest of our staff.

That’s a good angle.. however I would take my #1 and #2 pitcher anyday against Floyd and whoever any day.. plus they have a good bullpen

They started a pen guy because they’re coming off a short week. I guess they didn’t want to mess with their starter’s routine? I don’t know what their schedule looks like next week, but we didn’t have much of a choice to move our guys up a day when we did it because we had several weeks of T,F,S games.

It’s not bush league it’s smart. Starting tonight they are going to play a gauntlet of series the next several weeks. He is trying to get every win he can. He thinks he can get one on our inconsistent Friday and non existing Sat starters. These next two games are gonna be very chippy.

Meh…lots of issues on the infield, errors & a couple cheap arse hits. Nothing major to worry about. They’re lucky to only be down 9

It’s what Jay did last week after the lightning delay, and every moron in South Carolina was beating his chest because they pummeled a bunch of scrubs.

I don't know how deep into their bullpen they went, but loading up on the 2nd two games is not necessarily a bad strategy.

They pitched most likely one weekend guy the left hander which can come back on Sat. They are gonna give us everything we can handle the next two games. They have a good bull pen and are gonna chip away with the short game.

Part of it was due to injuries as well:

quote:

Nick Mingione on the decision to start Zach Hise tonight: "With the Thursday-Friday-Saturday series, and Logan Martin and (Darren Williams) coming off injuries, we didn't want to push them up. Zach's a guy that has starting experience, a guy that's thrown in SEC games before and he'd been throwing the ball well for us."

Paul tried to save pitchers in the world series championship games against Florida. It didn't work out that well for the team.

I suppose so. Everyone is worried about them saving their “best” starters, but those guys pitched all of 7 innings combined last week at UGA.

The fear is unfounded at this moment.
