Trump may be in more trouble than people think he is

I read DA Briggs's "Statement Of Facts" in Donald Trump's indictment. It is a relatively long read but has some interesting things in it. Trump is charged, among other things, with claiming the payments to his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, were business-related attorney retainer fees when the payments were actually reimbursements to Cohen for paying off Stormy Daniels to keep her silent about an alleged affair with Trump.
Here is the interesting part. The initial payments to Cohen were paid by Trustees of Trump's personal trust, so Trump could say that he did not make the payments himself, therefore he was not guilty. However, for reasons unknown, after the second payment, Trump began making the payments from his own personal bank account with his signature on the check. Here is the part of the Statement Of Facts that points that out:
33. The remaining nine checks, corresponding to the months of April through December of 2017, were paid by the Defendant personally. Each of the checks was cut from the Defendant’s bank account and sent, along with the corresponding invoices from Lawyer A, from
the Trump Organization in New York County to the Defendant in Washington, D.C. The checks
and stubs bearing the false statements were stapled to the invoices also bearing false statements.
The Defendant signed each of the checks personally and had them sent back to the Trump
Organization in New York County. There, the checks, the stubs, and the invoices were scanned
and maintained in the Trump Organization’s data system before the checks themselves were
detached and mailed to Lawyer A for payment.
Lawyer A is Michael Cohen. Donald Trump is the Defendent.

Every person on earth says Bragg laid an egg. It's the federal case that Trump has to worry about.

I wonder how many others are being shepherded by this scripted diversion?
Trump very well could be the greatest troll in the history of this country. Of course he couldn't have pulled it off without the help of our righteous and forthcoming media.

So the underlying charge is that Trump knowingly misclassified personal payments as business expenses, thereby defrauding the taxing authority? I mean, we all know that’s what he did. If every business owner who misclassified a personal expense as a business expense went to jail, we would need more jails.

I voted for Trump twice. I think he is going down over these payments to Michael Cohen. The Statement Of Facts states that Trump made payments directly to Cohen. He should have let others in his organization handle the payments so he could say that he had nothing to do with the payments. Claiming the payments as a business expense was dumb. A court in the Manhattan District of New York City will convict Trump in a New York minute.

Can you point out the crime in your op? All I see is an account of bookkeeping.

Counting personal expenses as business expenses happens all the time, especially in small businesses, but this case will be tried in New York. He is going down after Briggs drags this out as long as he can.
