going to movies alone

When I was at LSU and had an apartment with no insulation, the summers were hot. Often spent the hottest part of the day in a cheap daytime movie by myself, enjoying that AC.

when I'm traveling with a team, I don't want to sit near you on a plane, I don't want to go to lunch with a group of six and talk about work, etc. I want to listen to my podcasts or read, not blabber. Unless I'm trying to get laid.
This. I used to have to travel and I would prefer to eat alone because I often eat foods that others may not (local, ethnic, vegetarian, all before they were the norm). And eating in a hotel room or car sucks. I want to eat dinner, enjoy a glass of wine, etc. I do it now on weekends if I am out and about alone.

I left in the part about getting laid because I was single when I traveled for work alone

Yeah, "going out for Quiznos" etc. was a HARD no from me. Pret a Manger is not special, and neither is Potbelly, etc. I never stayed at the hotel everyone else stayed at either, it was an excuse for my own rental car and independence. On one trip into Cincinnati, I no kidding went to a drug store and bought cans of Chef Boyardee Ravioli to eat for dinner, because I was more into getting the hell out of work and taking off the button down than I was to going and eating steak like every other consultant did. They gave me an "award" for my Boyardee habit at the end. It was a food desert, so there weren't any Lebanese joints open at night to grab dinner from, if anyone from the Money board is stalking me.

I mixed themes, I meant getting laid while not on business trips when I was single. Dipping the pen in company or client ink was something my dad schooled me in before I was out of high school. I really, really, should have though

I like dining alone.
My problem is when the opportunity comes along and the decision is all mine, I can’t decide where to go. Haha

I do it all the time, mostly for dinner when I’m not cooking at home. I enjoy it and dining alone doesn’t bother me one bit.

I go sit at a bar and treat myself to a steak for lunch at least once a week before going to see a movie. It’s one of my simple pleasures in life

Years ago I would never go eat alone. It felt very weird. Now I prefer to go alone. I just don’t like people as I get older

100% especially if there is a bar. Just belly up and enjoy.

I'm the opposite. I prefer eating alone. I'm one of those weird people that doesn't like eating around other people. Some weird insecurity, I don't know what it is. Obviously I eat around other people and my family all the time, but if given the option, I prefer eating alone.

I'll eat alone and browse the forum. If I'm eating with someone, phone stays on in my pocket or on the table.

Sometimes this is all I want.

When I travel for work there’s always some well meaning clown who wants to separate me from shitposting here, and I just want to be like.. all I went to do is have a drink and read my phone. Please go away.

I sometimes feel like that when I’m eating out with my family.

I’ve worked in sales for 25+ years. Spent many meals or having a few drinks alone while traveling to/from locations. This was before the iPhone too! Usually, would just grab a two top or bar seat, and make small chat with the bartender.

Same here. I travel solo a lot for business and it's one of life's simple little pleasures when a client has other plans and can't make dinner. Gives me a chance to get out and explore the city a bit and do some good people watching from the bar.

I like going to lunch by myself during work more often than not

Gets me away from work people for a short time.

Only time I really want to go with someone else is with my girlfriend on a dinner date

I'm a woman and I can assure you this isn't a problem for me. I don't mind lunch or dinner alone. I kind of enjoy it.
