That dates back to the 1968 Gun Control Act. Marijuana users are listed as one of the prohibited groups. The Form 4473 that is filled out is not a state form but a federal form. States have zero control over that. If found lying on the 4473, the Feds can nail you for perjury.

In order for Marijuana users to be able to buy and possess firearms, the 1968 GCA would have to be amended. As some one who has followed gun laws and the gun control movement for many years, it's not a shocking revelation.

Marijuana advocates should take note that all those states allowing weed sure don't seem keen on letting you have a Second Amendment. The more users, the larger the prohibited group of people. As they say it's not a bug but a feature.

This is a lazy argument unless you don't believe the GCA should be able to prevent felons from owning firearms.

i do believe felons should be able to own firearms. if they're too dangerous to own a firearm upon their release, they shouldn't be released.

Drug addicts should not be able to own firearms. This is an excellent idea. I support this.

Well since marijuana makes people violent maybe it’s for the best.

I'm assuming this is satire. For the most part the only thing a stoned on pot person is going to attack is a Twinkie, an Oreo or some Doritos

Well it’s still illegal at the federal level and the form you fill out when buying a gun asks if you use drugs. If you have a card, you cannot say no. If you say yes you’ll get denied.

Again, if this doesn’t apply to people in legal states that don’t require some BS card that’s just another way for a state to make money, how can it apply to a state like Louisiana that requires a medical card? At the end of the day it’s past time for the final push for federal legalization, the last two Presidents, including the current sitting President talk a big game but at the end of the day haven’t done anything. It’s not the law enforcement in major cities that have a problem with it, it’s the sheriff’s and police chiefs in smaller communities that have been holding it up, plus the politicians they have in their pocket.

This is just another way for our government to control firearms I'm guessing?

Curious on how many countries give citizens those options? Smoke weed or own a gun.

I don't know whether you are lying or not but reread Form 4473 11 (e) and get back to us.
