Does your company have over 50 EE's?
I've never heard of this happening...and I don't believe it's legal. Honestly, I don't even know how it could be done, unless they made your last day that Thursday and were pricks about not carrying your coverage for another week.

Seems odd and petty for publicly traded company
If the company is self-insured, they can terminate converage on last day of employment. I had this happen at my last job which was a huge organization also.

They had around 5k employees. They made my last day Thursday and are pro rating me back the premium payment I have already made.

Dick move, but also super interesting choice to change jobs while your wife is giving birth.

Me curious on timing
If you were in Cali they broke the law I think. I am out my depth
My last boss was semi butt hurt by my departure

This has to be determined when the plan is being set up. It either terminates upon date of resignation or last day of the month. It’s not a decision made at the time of resignation.

She isn’t giving birth. She’s 2 months pregnant. I am covered under COBRA and will be covered under new employers plan in 7 days.

dick move plus nif you paid for your monthly premium already out of paycheck, illegal i would think.

My previous employer did this, even with a notice. The only part that rubbed me the wrong way was not finding out until my last day that this would happen. Par the course for the company, but like other said, take solace knowing you’re leaving a bad company behind.

You millenials jump from job to job every 6 months and expect us loyal workers to pay yalls hospital bills? Keep voting for Bernie and maybe it’ll happen one day

This. You have already purchased the insurance for the month. It belongs to you. It can't be just taken back because you quit.
