The parents are certainly retarded. And obviously Michaelangelo isn’t pornography.

This may turn out to be lefties trying to make an absurd example of the new laws against porn stuff.

I do like that Desantis is looking extend the law thru high school and not just 3rd grade.

No teacher or school admin should be having sexual conversations with students or helping kids "figure out there sexual identities", other than specifically approved biology/sex ed classes. Just like a teacher would get arrested for "helping a student learn about their sexual identity" sexting with a student would.

So, books in the library that show 5 year olds how to suck dick is the same as David?

No one called for the elimination of David before the big degenerate pushes began in schools. You're pissed that some have gone full puritan? You helped them get this way.

Just because groomers have historically wanted kids to look at a grown mans appendage, doesnt make it acceptable art

Its why DEI, CRT, and LBGFRUIT is being forced on American kis. To make those religions as acceptable as showing kids a representation of a mans prick, and expecting it all to be defended as normal

The pearl clutching over the David statue is something else.

The difficult part of this situation is "art" is subjective. Allowing one type of nude art leads to forcing the allowance of other kinds of nude "art" that can be groomer content.

I think it is probably best just to leave it all out of the public schools so everyone is treated the same.

this is interesting timing as my 6th grade child also just saw this "art" in history class (this week) and it made them very uncomfortable.

Pearl clutching?

That was the art medium of its day. Todays art medium involves film, tiktok, instgram, etc. A guy sending kids a dick pic aint artsy, and neither is exposing a child to a XXX film in the Smithsonian

The statue has been promoted to kids over the decades by groomers. What kind of sane adult thinks its "beautiful" to stand and look at a mans junk? Having him cast with a cloth over his arse and prick wouldnt have detracted from the piece AT ALL

supposedly the circumcisions of yesteryear didn't remove as much of the rumpled fore skin as modern hospitals do.

What an unworkable nightmare it would be to give individual parents veto authority over curriculum/class materials.

Bad idea!

I'm conflicted too, as middle schoolers are too young to apprecaite this, but it isn't prudery.

Middle schoolers will laugh, point, snicker, and otherwise miss out on any cultural contributions Michelangelo may have made.

Or the innocent ones will be embarrassed. Should an 11/12 year old girl know what a naked adult male looks like? (poor, poor Ashley Biden.)

I know a woman who visited (edit: not Rome but a big tour of all Italy) with her family as a 11/12 yr old. The nudity made her embarrassed. She's a normal lady not a wierdo.

Adult humans are miserable souls.
Lord, thank you for the gifts of animals and children.
The rest can go wallow in their misery.

Maybe in some places.
Children in most of the world recognize this for what it is: a beautiful piece of art.
Of course, they’ll take away different meanings at different stages of their lives—as will all humans.

Funny that you mentioned God
quote:

Deuteronomy Chapter 4:16

Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female

Maybe God not wanting images of males and females is so that it couldnt be used to groom young children??

I would say it's more likely Michelangelo never laid eyes on a circumcised penis.

Parents should have a lot of input and control. But any parents offended by this should see their way out of classical school and into something more appropriate for their Karenish approach.

our kids go to a christian classical school and the seniors have to present 30 minute theses.

one of the more button pushing girls thesis was on why nudity in art should be a part of a classical education. it was fine.

ironically, at the end of all the thesese, they got on a plane and went to italy and saw a lot of penises and boobies.

in somewhat related news, one of my son's lesbian classmates has prosited for her thesis to be about queer theory in classical education. should go over swimmingly.
