Fires have been set all over Paris tonight, mass protests and riots in streets of France.

Garbage piles up as garbage strike heads to a third week. Interior minister says garbage workers will be forced back to work or they will be fired and arrested.

Over 100 people arrested so far reported.

Water cannon unleashed.

Macron pushed through retirement age raise from 62 to 64 with a presidential procedure mechanism that allows him to make law without a full vote by parliament. Gamble is that a vote of no confidence will be triggered as right wing Le Pen’s party and multiple left wing parties vow to bring a vote of no confidence to topple Macron.

This is from Le Figaro.

Twitter video from Sky News here.

Being honest, I'm sort of surprised Macron is still alive. I thought France would have completely boiled over by this point.

That’s much more effective during summer.

Let me guess. No coverage of this on ABC/CBS/MSNBC/CNN at all but wall to wall discussion of a possible Trump indictment. The Elites are laughing at us.

LOL, the French will riot if their coffee is cold. They never actually DO anything. And they’re letting the 3rd world move in En Masse. They’re going to be conquered anyway.

I'm shocked to learn that people work past 60 in France.

Macron does the right thing here, peasants revolt.

One illustration as to why relative democracies are doomed to fail.

Dude’s a fricking dictator.
Not that I agree with the citizenry on the issue but you can’t force thru shite like a king when the majority is against you. He will likely pay a price for it

I wish our leaders had the gut like macron’s when it comes
To entitlements.
Macron basically told them raise the retirement age or their version of SS will get go bankrupt in few years.
We will face the same problem in the very near future

Are the 63 year old Parisians marching in the streets? That is my kind of riot.

What ever happened to those Yellow Vest riots?
On a trip to Paris a few years ago I had to get up at the crack of dawn and leave for the airport hours early because one of those Yellow Vest riots/protests was going to take place by our hotel and all of the streets were going to be closed. At least they gave us warning.

That’s why France sucks.

ETA: if they didn’t enjoy the privilege of letting the US ensure their continents safety their retirement age would be 85.

Good for Macron. I’m surprised he did it. It’s one of the few things he has gotten right.
