I don't miss any of them. I would much rather go to the locally owned New Orleans area restaurants. This is true for every level of dining from the most luxurious to the most casual.

I went once to the Bluebonnet location. It was filthy, needed repairs, and the music was so loud --- and the servers were straight from North Baton Rouge.

But how were the wings? I’d take the bluebonnet location in Chicago over the BWW near my house any day of the week.

Can't think of any, even in a strange city I don't fall back on chains. The only good use of chains is breakfast or if you are in a hurry.

I do want to add that I am primarily thinking of national chains, some local or regional chains can be good. Back in the late 70's a friend of mine was looking for a food franchise to open in NO, he said many of them shied away from Louisiana and esp NO, they thought the locals would not take to them.

completely agree, but the little that I know, I think Louisiana stands a better chance of getting Lupe than we do El Tiempo.

I’ve met the owners several times at the racetrack. They have no interest in Louisiana. Sorry.

My wife and I had some wings in the Bluebonnet location a few months ago and they were good. Not the best I've ever had but way better than BWW

Is this just a silly statement or am I missing something?

So you've never noticed that fast food places vary by location? There are some locales where the shake machines work and you don't have to pull upfada spicey. Monroe LA is not one of those places. I could envision the taco construction at Torchy's Monroe being less than stellar. But maybe not.

Very true.
It just didn’t occur to me that a place as innocuous, yet as god as, Torchy’s would not find a foothold nearly anywhere.

Edit PS- I like interacting with you. You don’t get all pissy when someone posts something like I did.
I try (TRY) to post like I’m talking to someone at a bar and sometime those convos become properly contentious. You seem to take things that way.
Cheers

I've been to the one by campus about 3 or 4 times and I have no complaints. Their hottest salsa (habanero maybe) is awesome.

Torchy’s is good but it adds up like Five Guys. They don’t have a good combo option. Tacos are $5-$6 each. 2 tacos and a coke is at least $13, which is about right for any place. But I never feel like 2 tacos are enough. Add a side or another taco and it’s $16-$18.

I’m setting for good these days and just ignore the price when we go out. As long as it was satisfying I’m ok with paying

cheap and good so rarely mix unless it’s a mom and pop or food truck

krispy krunchy is good chicken. Sides are terrible though so I still wind up cooking something which kind of defeats the purpose
