It's made for shooting MILES away. Idk if the bullet even fully materializes in the first 500 yards.

Good point. Background. The one deer Ive shot with it had a tiny exit wound. Luckily I hit lung so it dripped blood but I’m hunting in thick woods and found that’s the deer either made it further or the track was harder. Summed up to being used to seeing blood spurting with the shot I made. It was shot using a 140 grain bullet which I’ve seen to be maybe on the higher end for what I’ve seen here and heard from buddies.

I prefer 140 gr. Speer HotCor’s in front of H4350 for 6.5 Manbun.

From what I've read the TAC-TX bullets from Barnes are designed for the lower velocity rounds like the 300 Blackout (30 caliber bullets) and 6.5 Grendel (6.5 bullets).

Disclaimer: I've never shot a 6.5 CM. OTOH, I've killed a number of deer w/ a 260 Remington handgun. If I were to deer hunt w/ a 6.5 CM rifle, I'd look at a conventional cup & core 129-140 gr bullet, 125 gr Nosler Partition or 130 gr Nosler AccuBond. The 120 gr Barnes TTSX would also prob be fine at rifle velocities. I've killed one deer w/ my 260 using the 120 gr TTSX and was pleased, but my handgun runs a muzzle velocity a couple hundred fps less than in a rifle.

130gr Accubonds handloads @ 2600± fps with 22" barrel. Taken four deer now between 75 and 150 yds and none of them ever took a step. One was neck shot, other three in the chest. Those ABs will frick a deer up.

Mine is set up strictly for target shooting. I quit hunting around 20 years ago. I really got burnt out on it. I only range shoot now and every once in a while, take a hog or coyote or something.

In thick woods, you need to make a high shoulder shot and drop them right there.
Deer aren’t that hard to kill. Most any bullet should do the job. If not, it’s time to return to calibers such as the .30-06 and the .308. When’s the last time we had to have multiple threads about what bullet to shoot from a .30-06?

When it comes to something you can select in the 6.5 CM to help it not cripple deer that won’t leave a blood trail, it can’t be done.
Hold on to grandpas Remington .270 and your bow for LA hunts.
Seriously though…I know 3 people that shoot the cripplemore. And they all like the hornady precision hunter 143gr.

See lots of this ammo during hunting season at the range. Personally it shoots like hot garbage out of my gun. Worst is the Super Performance. Make no mistake, it will hit a deer but it will not group worth a damn.
