Good info though.

130gr Accubonds handloads @ 2600± fps with 22" barrel. Taken four deer now between 75 and 150 yds and none of them ever took a step. One was neck shot, other three in the chest. Those ABs will frick a deer up.

Do you have the load data? My son shoot ls the Speer hot cor but I have some AB that would be a fine bullet for his gun.

Didn't read all three pages, skipped to replying after the OP got snappy less than a handful of responses in...

Listen Big Hoss. The OB is a good community and I can personally attest to the generosity of some of the posters.

You just have to be able to take a few jokes and grow thicker skin.

So here's the deal. The 6.5 will kill deer. But people think it's magic and think aiming in the general direction will kill em dead. Also, it gets shite on because there are so many other options that are better.

Best deer round ever made. Wonder why they quit making them.

39ish gr of VV N550 seated about .01" off lands. I used VV's load data because Nosler book doesn't have VV powders listed. I used 550 because 555 is mostly unobtanium right now.

At least the above was only target bullet recommendation this far in. That is a record for a 6.5 Creedmore thread. Problem is they market these target bullets to all hunters instead of ultra long range "hunters".

I was in camp this year in the midwest with a very experienced guy that was pissed that all he wasn't getting passthorughs any more, having to call dogs, and destroying too much meat with the "new bullets" as he called them. He went back to bonded bullets. I asked what bullets they were having trouble with and low and behold Berger and Hornady ELDX.

Berger's arent designed to pass through, they explode in the chest and turn everything to blood chili. But I always try to get mine in a quartering shot so it enters behind or in front of the shoulder. However, on anything bigger than whitetail, I'm inclined to stay with bonded core or partitions.

My serious response:

140gr soft point 6.5 bullets at ~2600 fps for deer is a recipie as old as centerfire cartridge hunting.

Use HUNTING bullets. If it says long range, precision, target, etc on the box it's the wrong stuff. The problem with the Creedmoor is that it's marketed for long range stuff and much of the factory ammo is made for that. Use something with normal or premium HUNTING bullets at least 140gr and kill stuff.

Use HUNTING bullets.

Ballistic tips, Accubonds and Sierra TGKs are my go-to hunting bullets. I've never had to go find a deer using those. I loaded some 180gr Bergers "VLD hunting" in my 30 Nosler just because, and it destroyed the on-side shoulders on a big buck and a doe. But they went down DRT, everything inside both chests were shredded
