I've been to 34, and my top 3 (no real particular order) are Montana, Wyoming, and Utah.

Coastal SC and coastal GA would round out my top 5.

Liked it so much I live there now.

Where did you an your wife wind up? I remember you moved from South Carolina right?

We were in downtown Boise and moved just east to Harris Ranch. Easy drive into downtown.

Lake Tahoe, probably on the CA side, but UT is just as nice.

Texas might be the best place to live if you aren't in a Dallas or Houston concrete jungle, the mess of Austin proper, or some generic suburbia.
The Panhandle is the worst part of Texas. Dying speed-trap towns, flat land, hot as hell, and nothing for miles. Wichita Falls to the Colorado border is a miserable drive.

I lived in Boston briefly from 2014-15. I believe that winter still holds the record for the most snowfall. Love that city but that was a brutal winter.

Agreed. I had a project in Cumberland, MD, to bid with a required pre-bid site visit.

Flew into DCA, rented a car, and spent the night in Cumberland. It was a gorgeous drive and the area is very nice. Vastly different that Baltimore.

Drive down I-68 through the western part of Maryland into West Virginia and it'll change your mind.

I liked Lubbock better than I did Corpus Christi.

My favorite part of Texas is the I-30 corridor NE of Dallas to the Arkansas border. That is an area I'd buy property and retire.

Agreed, and yes the people are really nice from my experience. Also had the best Italian food ever just outside of Boston.

I'd also shout out Colorado, Oregon and Wyoming in no particular order.

Oregon (outside of Portland) was fricking amazing. Beautiful scenery and quiet once you leave the city. I would live in the remote parts in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

That is a beautiful area. We went to Portland in 04 before it was infested. We had a great time in the city and in the area around it. It is a beautiful area. We also discovered what black ice was on the way down from Mt Hood. That was not a good time to learn about black ice

A very poor town. I've passed through there many times and the poverty there is apparent everywhere.

Hard to disagree with most of this.

I liked KY, TN, NC, & SC.
MT, WY, UT, & CO are all grouped... but probably in that order.

Hawaii was really interesting, but it seemed like a better place to visit rather than to live.

If I had to pick just one..... Probably Tennessee.
