MSP was just a connector for Nashville.

Holy hell, this doubles down on my stance to live within an hour of a hub in the US. That's a mess. You're in the weird zone where you might be able to exploit SkyTeam out of ATL , or OneWorld out of Charlotte to reduce the number of legs. I know you lose the ability to select seats, etc., since you're *A, but I spent decades of my life finding a way to make the one flight I wanted, with the seat I wanted, was the only acceptable flight option to be ticketed by the agency. (Usually Amex.) Easy to "guide."

I'm guessing BNA, like AUS (and to a lesser extent MSY) have "direct" flights to LHR, etc., which are expensive out the wazoo, just so they can claim BA has a flight there, etc.

I only flew threw MSP to get to Winnipeg for a couple of months. Nine hours from IAH on Delta through MSP.

You’d have to explain this to me like I’m 5.

I live just outside of Chicago. I fly United out of ORD typically. We were on a family vacation in Park City that I had to leave to get to Nashville for work. It was an odd route.

I was 100% confused how you fly out of ORD and involve Nashville in anyway. That's what threw me off. I take the blame for that

ORD, you've captive like me at IAH, but I can also do Turkish vs United within *A, for instance. Or, I could (I'm not checking ITA Matrix based on my alcohol consumption today) fly through another *A airline to get to the same place, but not on UA, which can be cheaper. (Far, far cheaper to fly from IAH to IST to FCO than it is to fly from IAH to FCO, or IAH to ORD/EWR to FCO. Different than IAH TO WAR to FCO.) Insert ORD (at least they have popcorn) into the mix, and you probably get the idea.

Or, depending if your *A status has lapsed (like nearly everyone), you could fly OneWorld or SkyTeam out of ORD via MSP or JFK, and get a cheaper fare. ETR: comments re Ireland were irrelevant. Removed.

I just won't do non-alliance stuff because I have to have seat selection at booking. I have aisle, or I buy a different flight. I do buy flights 300 days out, but that's just a couple of us. But if I can't select my seat, I'm not buying a ticket. I will pay for it, I just am not leaving that up to chance a week before the flight leaves. I want my seat now!!!

Someone else mentioned Centurion Clubs. Get the American Express for $499 annually.

Platinum annual fee is $695 and probably due for another hike here soon

I hope you’re wrong but you’re probably right.

Still worth it though.

It’s been at $695 for a while. I’m hoping they Jack it up $2-300 a year to discourage all the people that only travel a few times a year but love to get hammered in the lounge to drop the card

Has this happen at Centurion Club. Not worth going in when it’s your turn; it’s gotten bad.

See you at Chili’s Too.

Thanks, Supa. I’m based out of DFW so when Centurion doesn’t work out, I’ll just hit the American lounge. Priority Pass lounges generally suck.

Forgot about the Delta lounges; solid back up plan. Good lookin out.

Was this recent? As of this month Amex has taken measures to alleviate the crowds at Centurion Clubs.

Hopefully the new changes will prevent that from happening. I know there are no more big families allowed to spend hours in there. No card no entry unless they pay $50 per.

I seek out inattentive staff. This serves me well, after I've tipped them well enough to take breaks to clear glassware where they're not so much paying attention.

On flights over the pacific, I just am going to get a Subway footlong, and bring it with me on the flight. Food is the unimportant part to me :D.
