My buddy swears by drinking apple cider vinegar. He hates it but says it’s worth it.

Every doc has their treatment.
For acute gout, I use indomethacin, prednisone, and colchicine.
For chronic gout treatment it’s diet modifications and allopurinol.

What jose said. Make sure your doc does something to prevent a flare if you start allopurinol as it can precipitate a flare. Have to go back for follow ups to make sure your level is at goal, may take a decent dose to get it there. I see lots of people on 100 mg and that doesn’t cut it for most.

I knew some guys that did cherry juice. Had to be pure, not a mix. A couple sweared by it. It worked for one for awhile, but his condition got worse and it didn't help much anymore..

I’ll buy diet modifications but not the traditionally preached ones. Eliminate high fructose corn syrup & alcohol it’ll vanish. Problem is eliminating those…
So I take allopurinol!

What Jose said.
Avoid high purine foods like organ meat, pork and wild game and limit alcohol.

1. Alcohol isn’t an issue
2. I’m perfect weight according to body/mass index
3. Possibly diet.
Thanks for your input.

It's tricky. The stuff that your doctor can prescribe after a flair up usually requires a blood test because it can negative affect your liver and kidneys and it takes a while to get an appointment so it is kind of a waste. Drink lots of water and maybe some tart cherry too.

Alcohol diminishes the kidneys ability to process auric acid. Same with HFCS, and other fructose dense foods.
We shouldn’t be looking for what causes our toes to tingle, but rather the root cause of what reduces our bodies ability to process out purines and Uric acid. I believe alcohol and HFCS are the culprits.

He's looking for medicine only. Don't bother.

Allopurinol
Yep. Talk to your Dr. about a prescription. I've got 2 friends who occasionally suffered with gout fairly often and Allopurinol helped them.
I, on the other hand, suffer from kidney stones and a daily dose of Allopurinol has greatly curbed the occurrence and size of them.

Tart cherry extract, I've heard.

Allopurinol threw my liver numbers way off. Stopped it and back to normal levels after 2 weeks. Make sure you get blood tests if you go that route. On Probenecid now and have had zero problems.

Tart cherry in pill form. I had gout 2 years ago from eating too much salmon, tuna and mackerel. Beer also is worse than liquor and I drink a lot of beer. Started taking the tart cherry and haven't had a recurrence. Got it from Amazon

Fresh black cherries in the very early flare-up makes it stop…so says my Maw-Maw.
