This has been one absolutely savage pre-season. The hitters jump all over someone one scrimmage and then the pitchers get on top for the next one and vice versa. They’ve been trading blows over the last month and it’s been awesome to follow. Thanks for keeping us updated Scuba

Skenes and Hurd both roughed up this weekend. Interesting.

Literally all our projected started got mashed this weekend.

Also our starting lineup got embarrassed by 2 bullpen guys.

Lol great weekend for people who love the backups.

You can probably chalk that up more to they have seen each other a lot at this point. Way more than they would during the course of a season.

Milazzo was 1-3, singled in his last at bat and Dugas would have had 2 homeruns as he crushed one that was knocked down by the wind.

I scored Milazzo a fielder's choice due to Stevenson being forced out at 3rd. If this is incorrect, someone let me know.

I try not to take a whole ton out of pitching numbers. They may not paint the entire picture. I don't know if Johnson has them going out and throwing a normal game each scrimmage, or if they are pin pointing certain things each scrimmage (working mostly fastball, off speed, or any other thing). If this is the case, it could explain a high walk day, or days where hitters just take batting practice off of them because they know more-or-less what's coming.

I don't know how much scuba, or others in attendance, may catch on to this. I'm not even saying that it's absolutely the case. Just saying it's a possible explanation.

That’s a really good point.

There is a difference practicing things and trying to get players to work on different stuff in scrimmages and what you do in a game.

With a runner on first, Little bounced a pitch which Neal blocked in front of the plate. The runner took second and Neal's throw was high, allowing the runner to get to 3rd.

That Neal, Kling, Nippolt trio at the bottom of the order has the potential to really contribute, pressure pitchers, and turnover the order to the top of the lineup for crooked number innings.
Is it Friday yet?
Let's play ball!
