For all the “Coach K” people, K had a militaristic approach to the game just like Knight.

What helped K was he wasn't as demonstrative as Knight publicly which is probably why he got a pass from the media throughout his career, K knew when to put the polish on so the cameras wouldn't catch him doing something Knight-like

Truth hurts. Knight was a great coach. One of the best in game coaches MBB has ever known.

As far as strategy, game analysis, innovation, and running a basketball clinic, there's no coach better than Robert Montgomery Knight even to this day

He and Dale despised each other. One matchup Dale’s jacket was off early and without the players breaking it up, I think he would have attacked him.

I remember Bobby Knight on how he dealt with Brown's freak defense. "I used my freak offense."

This quote from Coach Knight there sums up Dale Brown perfectly and alone makes naming anything basketball related for him an absolute JOKE!
LSU Basketball is a fricking Joke because of that!

yea put the game in the topic so we can now post on the refs not calling Indiana's Bob Knight for 2 technicals he should have been called for and was not.

That one technical alone is the difference in the game outcome.

Only game I walked out of mad because I think the refs jobbed us. Literally called a "dual possession" when an Indiana player wrapped up Fess Irvin from behind.

Those last 4 minutes were painful.

You lost me there - the 79-81 teams were very talented, I'll give you the 87 team.

Indiana players were actually grabbing Bernard Woodside and Oliver Brown when they were running Alford on the baseline to free him up for shots. I promise I'm not exaggerating, actually grabbing and holding them. And not one illegal screen was called. Yet if Wood or Oliver got close enough to breathe on Alford it was a foul. I can't truly believe they were simply that bad at their job. It was so god damn bad. I was in the crowd in Cincinnati for that game and watched the tape several times after. Simply no justification for how that game was reffed. Disgraceful.

Jack arse, if you saw the game you know Bobby Knight slammed his fist on the scoring table -DIDN'T get a tech - and the refs favored Indiana the rest of the game. JERK

Not at all. Bobby Knight was spot on, saying never so little has been done with so much.

Knight's remark came home to roost two years later when Brown had a team of all-star dimensions, including Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Stanley Roberts and Shaq, and only achieved 12-6 SEC and 20-9 overall, and couldn't get past the Round of 32 in the NCAA tourney. In fact all three seasons of Shaq resulted in early tournament exits, absolutely inconceivable when you think about it.

Brown had some success at LSU, but the failure level was much greater overall. His last four seasons were last-place finishes in the SEC West each year-- embarrassingly poor teams which were far short of mediocre.

I’ll always believe that. To a lesser degree if the refs don’t absolutely job us we go in 87 to the Final
4 in the Superdome, and I would have liked our chances.

John Williams had a hand infection which hampered him in the 1986 Final Four.

Chris Jackson ( his momma named him Chris, he was Chris when he played this game, Imma call him Chris) had the flu during the 1990 loss to Georgia Tech in the second round.

Yeah, if I remember right, Knight should have gotten a technical for his outburst at the scorer's table. Instead the officiating immediately shifted in Indiana's favor. Dale didn't help himself with his coaching from that point on though.

I guess my only beef with brown is it all has led to where we are now. A nothing basketball program.

When Dale Brown got to LSU it WAS a nothing basketball program. He got a rag tag team to hustle their butts off, went around the state promoting the team and the sport and built the program into one of national respect.
