Midwest Regionals in which LSU led Indiana, 75-66, with only four minutes left.

“It didn’t look good,” Knight said. “In fact, my assistants had just about given up, and so had I. Then I looked down toward the other bench, and I saw Dale Brown standing there. I knew then that we had a chance.”

Indiana won, 77-76.

Add Knight: Of Brown’s coaching, he said: “To paraphrase Churchill, probably never has so little been done with so much.”

Bobby knight is a physically and verbally abusive human stain.

Dale Brown should wear it as a badge of honor that such a malignant person doesn’t like him

Truth hurts. Knight was a great coach. One of the best in game coaches MBB has ever known.

For all the “Coach K” people, K had a militaristic approach to the game just like Knight.

frick YOU FOR LEAVING OUT IMPORTANT DETAILS LIKE THE OFFICIALS ALLOWING THE GREAT BOBBY KNIGHT TO WALK TO THE SCORERS TABLE AND SLAM A PHONE DOWN WITHOUT BEING ASESSED A TECHNICAL AND THEN TOTALLY ALLOWING KNIGHT TO INTIMIDATE THEM THE REST OF THE GAME.

IF BROWN WAS SO INEPT WHY IN THE frick DID KNIGHT AND INDIANA TRAIL LSU UNTIL THE FINAL SECONDS WHEN AN LSU PLAYER MISSED THE FRONT END OF A ONE AND ONE WHICH MAY HAVE SEALED THE WIN. DID BROWN MISS THAT FREE THROW?

BUT YOU SMUG LITTLE PIECE OF shite THINK YOU ARE SO frickING WITTY TO TRY TO DISPARAGE A MAN WHO TURNED A MORIBUND BASKETBALL PROGRAM INTO A NATIONAL POWER.

SHAME ON YOU.

That was a heartbreaking game.

One thing I recall is that Indiana got a borderline call from the officials that could have easily been an offensive foul on the Hoosiers instead of a foul on LSU.

A different call there would almost certainly have resulted in an LSU victory.

He wasn’t wrong, though, knight was arrogant bastard, but he was also brutally honest, to the point that people hated him; but, if Indiana wanted to name stuff after him, nobody would probably give it a second thought…

First off internet tough guy, I didn’t say the comments in the post-Bobby Knight did.

All the talk about the court just reminded me of it.

However, do I personally think Dale was a great “ in-game” coach? Not really…..

Also, the last few years he was here, LSU had losing seasons along with the whole Lester Earl situation hurting us big time.

He also got us into postseason basketball for 15 straight years. 13 of those were NCAA tourney appearances including 10 straight, and 2 final fours. 3 of those jerseys hanging in the PMAC rafters right now are guys he brought in. Like him or not, he's indisputably the best MBB coach LSU has ever had.

As far as the court naming thing, honestly I'm indifferent. I don't think the court needed to be named after anyone, but if they want to put Brown's name on it cool. If they want to put Gunter's name on it as well, ok whatever, I don't think that devalues what Dale did or anything. At the end of the day I just call it the PMAC anyway.

Good post Waterlink and great points.
I also will always call it the PMAC and I think the court naming is just a little silly. A street near LSU called Dale Brown drive would have been enough.

One day when we are all gone, kids will ask who he was-and Google will tell them Brown’s history—all the good and the bad.

Knight is a bitch, he always bullied people he thought he could intimidate, I would have enjoyed him getting into a confrontation with John Thompson, Shaq or Mike Tyson.
His coaching at Texas Tech was laughable.

So this is what you thought was most important to comment on? First of all Knight never said this, thats just the kind of shite that gets made up by smarmy people like you.

The truth is Dale Brown outcoached Knight in that game. Don't take my word for it, its on You tube, Go watch it, I just did. There were multiple questionable calls which favored Indiana. But set that aside and just watch the game and come back and tell us what Dale Brown did wrong that caused them to lose and what you Mr. Coach who has 445 fewer victories than Brown would have done differently. Then come back and tell us how brilliant you are.

Yes, the last few seasons of Brown's tenure didn't match the previous 15 seasons . You think maybe Randy Livingston blowing out his knee in 1994 and 1995 may have affected the record. How about the blatant tampering with Lester Earl in Hawaii by ole clean folksy Roy Williams which led Earl to transfer to Kansas. The payments to Earl were by a local doctor on his own volition and the NCAA eventually cleared Brown and Johnny Jones of any involvement. Lester Earl recanted his allegations a few years later and confirmed the coaches didn't pay him.

The worst thing about your comments is that like so many you choose to make a judgement based upon what you perceive as the worst of your subject, yet you totally ignored all the tremendous accomplishments of Dale Brown to score cheap points with the rest of the simple heads who parrot this shite year after year when Brown's name comes up. Guess that makes you the real internet tough guy.

Yeah, well I think Knight did say the comments.

And it’s easy for me to say what he could have done differently “after” a game has been played.

87 game against Indiana—probably went to the stall too early.

92 game against Indiana—stayed in the zone way too long. Pulling Shaq for the couple minutes when he had 0 fouls and all the momentum didn’t help the cause either.

The announcers even discussed the opinion on whether he was considered a “good” coach.
