Carr has to waiver no trade, if he accepts to be traded. Sounds like compensation will be a 3rd round pick from report.

I'm ok with this. You are finding a backup with potential to start at QB with this pick, so getting a solid starter until the future is found is worth it

I guess the way to look at this is do you give up more draft picks to move up for a young qb that really isn't "special" in this draft, or find a bridge.

Carr is a bridge, but gosh darn, another 3. We shouldn't have done if for SP and now this should have been a 4.

Ill be ok with it as long as he reworks his deal to get down to 25m yr.

Be nice if we could work carr and Thomas in on restructures. Thomas, olave, and shaheed with carr would be nice

I’m not. We need a good running back and yiu can bookmark it, one of Sharp, Tank B or Achane will be there in the 3rd when we pick.

4th would have been ok.

I feel like 4th would be extremely fair, so I can't really balk at a 3rd.

I stay dying laughing at all the Carr dick riders on this forum whose primary argument for trading for Carr is that he gives us the best QB in a shitty division.

So what? You're not winning anything of note with Derek Carr and all winning a shitty division is going to do is save Dennis Allen's job. You're rooting against the team's best interest long-term and arguably short-term. The quicker Allen gets the axe and we dedicate resources to finding a QB we can actually build around the better.

I get it. But I guess your only real options are: Roll another year with Dalton (which would probably be much cheaper); Go full tank in hopes of getting a top 5 pick next year - but even then (a) NFL teams aren't always good at tanking and (b) there is no guarantee a rookie will pan out; Get a cheaper, but maybe less accomplished FA QB.

Is Carr ideal? Of course not. Particularly when you see FA signings like Matt Ryan and Carson Wentz completely crash and burn. But at least Carr has had some level of success to give you hope.

The NFC South (on paper) looks awful right now. Carr would arguably be the best QB in the division should he join the Saints (at least the most accomplished). And the NFC as a whole doesn't look all that great. Philly is really good. SF has a great roster, but still a lot of questions at QB. Rodgers looks to be leaving GB. The Vikings seem just as apt to explode as they are to tank. The Cowboys have a perpetual GM problem.

Carr would at least bring "hope" that maybe something good could happen. With Dalton back, along with the same offensive staff, we know how that movie ends.

So we are gonna take a QB who couldn’t succeed with the raiders, and pair him with a coach that couldn’t succeed with the raiders????

Solid strategy, i think we’ll be fine

We have clowns running this franchise right now

Edit your title. That is NOT what that article says.

They agreed on compensation to meet with Carr at this point, nothing more

The team is going to try to win no matter what. You can either watch them do it badly, have another 7-10 season and keep DA another year, or you can watch them do it well, get Carr, and maybe win the division at 9-8 and host a playoff game

I know which of the two of those I pick

Yeah I wish they'd decide to tear it down and rebuild but they aren't doing that, confirmed, so this is the next best thing

Trade for Carr. Draft Hooker and have him sit. Just my personal route I want to Saints to take if this is true.

Also - misleading headline. They have compensation agreed to if he waives. It would not be in his best interest to waive the no trade for us unless he absolutely loves us today and gets the feelies

What is the cap implications with this? I don’t mind the trade as much as assuming his shitty contract.

Awesome, so we're officially the Raiders now. Have their former head coach, DC and QB.
