If WHO thinks that though? Obviously DA is incentivized to try anything he can to get better next season. If he can't win, he's out no matter what and it doesn't matter a damn to him how the personell moves they make this offseason damage the viability of the team going forward.

Not saying carr is the difference maker...
Isn't Carr just marginally better than Dalton over the past several years? I don't think he's the difference maker needed.

The one thing I like about Carr is that he has thrived in a dysfunctional organization, under poor coaching, with a terrible supporting cast. We were dismal last year, but never came close to matching the dysfunction of the Raiders.
Andy Dalton played as well as you could expect and only won 6 games.

All under some wild circumstance; franchise moving cities (to vegas of all places), coach getting canceled on you, interim coach, new coach, new gm's, first round WR's making terrible personal choices resulting in more distraction. On and on

he could you know choose not to come here and then we don't get him at all.
He can do this by vetoing a trade here too.

Someone explain to me how Carr is better than Dalton especially if you have to pay Carr big money.
Career Stats-
Dalton - Gp- 166, PCT CMP - 62.5, Yds Game - 229, td- 244, Ints- 144, QB Rating - 87.6
Carr- GP- 142, PCT Cmp- 64.6, Yds Game- 248, Td- 217, Int- 99, QB Rating - 91.8
Like I said, Carr is marginally better than Dalton. We should take Carr if he renegotiates and its a decent price, but no way in Hell should the cap space strapped Saints pay Carr 40 million a year. There is not enough separation between him and Dalton to do that. Do yall disagree?

Run those numbers at both having 166 games played to truly see the comparison
Posted on 2/7/23 at 1:10 pm to WhoGeaux
Dalton had Prime AJ Green and only put up those numbers. He is also a complete shell of himself at this point.

Qb rating is Qb rating and there is not much difference in the two. 62% completion rate is not much different than 64%, but one might cost you 40 million a year.

Carr's TD/INT stat line when adjusted to 166 games (at his current rates) would be 254 TD to 116 INT. FAR superior to Dalton.

I think the only way the Saints are getting Carr is if he agrees to some sort of restructure.

I'm not advocating for Dalton. We know he is not the answer long term, but I don't want to see the Saints get stuck with a high dollar QB because DA is willing to do anything to save his job.

would load up on rookie contracts and use the draft to find a QB in ‘24 but to each his own.
This is the best way to go. When players get past rookie contracts they bust the team and they are never worth it.

The way we have been drafting I’d rather an established slightly above average qb than a Zach Wilson, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold type miss first round.

Carr choses where he goes. Why give the Raiders anything unless they restructure and absorb a significant amount of cap (which I doubt).
IMO, this has to be the move. He did something similar with Houston when they traded for Roby and it forced the team to give up a higher pick. Asking LV to shoulder some of the restructure, when they will have a cap hit for cutting him anyway, and take a 4th is exactly something Loomis would do.
Posted on 2/7/23 at 2:24 pm to RazzleDazzle
Carr and that crazy contract would be a pure Dennis Allen move. Sure to set us back 5 more years. Maybe we will be out of cap hell and have a shot at a winning season in 2033.

I'm not nearly as worried about the 4th as I am about what his contract will look like. I would say it is obvious that a restructure or completely new contract is part of the deal, but I'm not sure I trust Mickey anymore with anything other than cap work.
If we're planning a restructure or new contract, why trade for him at all? Just let him be cut and give him a new contract. He has a no trade clause, so if he wants the Saints he can just force the Raiders to cut him. The only reason we'd trade for him, IMO, is because Derek wants to keep his current contract. I think he's got 120 million coming over 3 years. That's probably more than he'd get as a FA.

You have no clue what the renegotiated contract will be

Give me Cousins, Prescott, Hurts, Smith, Murray, and Goff over Derek Carr just off the top of my head in no particular order from NFC QBs. Carr is mid at best. Personally, I like him as an individual. Pass on him as the starting QB for my team.

You don't seem to be too big of a fan based on this post of yours yesterday:

I'm even starting to hope the Saints sign him so I can troll the frick out of the people on this board when he's not really an improvement over Dalton.
such a big fan that you hope they suck so that you can troll
